From the land of loch and stone comes our newest offering. Ruby-gold in color, Burning Skye is exceptionally smooth and mild. The use of a wee bit of smoked barley lends Scottish Ale a finish that is both unique and a little mysterious.

Pours a cloudy yellow/orange with a lot of carbonation. A light scent of malts in the nose but not much there, after letting it warm a bit I can sense a little smokiness in the backround. Taste is pretty bland, not much malt presence for the style, some toast/bisciut, almost has a slight sourness to it. Mouthfeel is thin and the carbonation level leaves the mouth dry. Not a very good example of a Scottish style ale.

    12oz bottle-

Aroma - starts out on the metallic side of things, a bit of dirty penny actually. Wet grass clippings come out about 2-3 minutes after the pour. Also smells a little like spent malt. Light smoke finally comes out after hitting it’s stride.

Appearance - the beer bours out a medium amber/cream soda colored hue, with an initial 1" off-white head. The head quickly melted down to a wispy existance, scummy bubbles clumping on top.

Taste - light malt body, a touch of fruit but rather uninspired.

Palate - medium bodied with a nice, smooth velvety mouthfeel. Finish is pretty quick. Overall - decent drinker, but far from spot on to style I think. Lacking body and flavor. And another huge thank you from pfoxyjohn for this one. Thanks!

Sampled at Lazlo's. Poured a clear amber color with a white head. No lacing. Aroma was sweet and malty. Flavor was also sweet and malty and a little crisp. This was their "flagship" beer according to the waiter, and it's good, but more for appealing to the masses.

Pours honey-brown with perfect clarity. Virtually no head produces virtually no lacing. The aroma consists of mild, earthy malts with a hint of skunk. The flavor is also mild, perhaps to the point of uninteresting. Balanced, but boring. A little thin for a Scottish anything.

Sampled from bottle, traded with bditty187 from NE. Pours a clear copper with a collared white head and minimal lacing. Aroma is very subtle with just a hint of crystal malt and a floral/candy sweetness. Flavor is semi-sweet, smokey with a small floral, pine and spice hop flavor addition. Medium-bodied and moderately carbonated. An interesting interpretation of the style.
