KSBF 08. Caramel brown pour with good looking head. Loads of brown sugar in this one with sweet wine-like grape notes. Overpowering, but in a pleasant way. There was really a lot of brown sugar flavor in this one.

08.14.04 Unlabelled 750 bottle @ HW 5th anniv. Auburn brown color, dark head. Malt showcase on nose with a creaminess. Hints of acidity and milky chocolate malt. This beer instantly reminded me of Chimay Red before I even knew what it was, I wonder if they use the same yeast?

This red-bodied beer pours with a large head. The aroma is brightly citrusy along with a bit of banana. The malt in the flavor is fairly dry.

This was probably the best beer sampled at McKenzie’s. It had a reddish orange appearance with a fair amount of head. It was a little bit on the thin side but flavorful nonetheless. I tasted cherries, raisins, grapes, and some light citrus notes. Pretty good example of the style.

GABF ’03. Light amber color with tiny head that disappeared even before I could drink the sample. Light fruits and nice belgian yeasts are predominant. Nicely done.

Hazy copper color with a small greyish head and spotty lacing on the glass. Yeasty, roasty banana and blueberry aroma. Light roast and chocolate, yeast, and tart a cherry taste. Nice round mouthfeel. I can see the resemblance to Chimay Red, though this is much better.
