A blend of American and Belgian brewing styles for this year’s Saint Me day beer. It pours a hazed medium gold colour with a generous foamy off-white head which lasts throughout. The aroma is very yeasty, definitely a Belgian influence here, followed by notes of tropical citrus juices, and a hint of biscuit malts. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. First thing I taste is pine resing, which gives way to some grain notes, followed by some tropical fruit juice flavours, almost similar to ‘Five Alive’. Still not a fan of these juice bombs…..I want beer, not breakfast juice!

The beer pours a solid coca-cola colour with a half inch creamy tan coloured head which sadly, did not last more than a few seconds. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and notes of vanilla. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, and not much else. Quite one dimensional for a stout, and weak tasting.

The beer pours a medium gold colour with very little head, and what head there is, lasts less than a couple of minutes. Lots of effervescence. The aroma is grainy malt, weak herbal hops, and weak peppery note. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is weak grains, some light hops, and grass. It tastes better than a lot of 4.2% pale lagers, that is for sure. But still....568ml is too much!

The beer pours a translucent pale straw colour with a generous white head which sticks around a couple of minutes. The aroma is cereal grains, weak herbal hops, and some spicy notes. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is weak grainy malt with a bitter hop finish. Not a lot going for this one. Very bland.

The beer pours a hazy orange colour, reminiscent of C-Plus Orange Soda from the 1980s, with a loose foamy light tan coloured head which doesn’t last. The aroma is dishsoap, oranges, weak herbal hops, and ginger. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, almost powdery, with below average carbonation, which is expected in a radler. You can taste both the fruit and ginger in the flavour, which is rather unique. Again, as a ‘drink’, I would try this again based on flavour alone, but still looking for more beer quality.

The beer pours a slightly translucent coca-cola colour when held to a strong white light, with a huge frothy light tan coloured head which lasts a while. The aroma is quite complex as both the tart cherries, and burnt wood are prominent. There are hints of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee as well, but it is the tart cherries and wood that dominate. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, slightly creamy, and with above average carbonation. The flavour is both chocolatey and tart at the same time. There are also notes of roast and coffee in the mix. Looks good, smells good, feels good, but does not taste good. Nor am I a fan of the dark frosted bottle as I can’t see how much yeast was left on the bottom.

The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was light roast, bready malt, coffee, and a bitter hop finish.

The beer pours a translucent amber colour with a thin white ring for a head. The aroma is sweet caramel, cereal malt, weak maple notes, some yeast, and come herbal hops. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is not as sweet as the aroma would suggest. Notes of caramel and maple, and hints of hops in the bitter finish. A little one dimensional but with calling it a ‘butter tart ale’, I think that is what they were going for.

The beer pours a hazy medium gold colour with a geberous white cap which quickly dissipates to nothing. The aroma is light notes of caramel, biscuit malt, citrusy hops, and weak spices. The mouithfeel is medium bodies with average carbonation. The flavour is light caramel, light spices, weak biscuity malt and a decent hoppy finish. Not a bad beer but nothing I would willingly try again.
