#5660 Trappeze Pub from Athens, GA, United States
Score: 4.8 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 9 | Value 9 | Service 10 | Overall 10 |
Located in downtown Athens, easy to find, it has a lived-in and relaxing interior, the feel of a real neighborhood bar. Service is alert, helpful, and friendly but not overly friendly. Beer selection is quite impressive, emphasizing crafts, especially locals - plenty of Terrapin on hand! Food is very good, tasty and satisfying. You can get full servings, or halls if you want to sample quite a few beers without getting too full - or sloshed. A must if you live within even a few hours of Athens - and you don’t have to be a Dawgs fan, either.

#5659 Hop Alley Brew Pub from Alpharetta, GA, United States
Score: 4.4 | Atmosphere 9 | Selection 8 | Value 10 | Service 9 | Overall 8 |
Cozy interior doesn’t look too new so it has a nice homey feel. Waitstaff are fairly alert, and do their best with a busy crowd. Food is quite good, and they have a couple good vegetarian offerings. Beers range from OK to very good. Parking may be a bit tight, and it can be a mite hard to find, but it’s worth the effort.

#5658 Smoke Rise Bottle Shoppe from Stone Mountain, GA, United States
Score: 4.1 | Atmosphere 8 | Selection 9 | Value 7 | Service 9 | Overall 8 |
Located not too far from U.S. 78, this bottle shop - like most - has a wide variety of potent potables. Their beer section is not too big, but at least craft brews dominate - just a couple segments of the cooler are dedicated to macrobrews. They have a lot of craft beer in bombers, four-packs and six-packs, as well as a special section for Belgians. I have seen better beer selections, but they at least emphasize craft brews and imports over industrial crud. The salespeople are very efficient at getting you checked out and loading up your loot so you can tote it home. They were friendly and made you feel welcome. Even if their prices seem to be on the high side, they are worth a visit. Or two. Or more.

#5657 The Highlander from Atlanta, GA, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 7 | Value 8 | Service 9 | Overall 8 |
The rough-and-tumble interior lets you know that this ain’t no place for snobs. Walls are covered with bizarre and eclectic art, some of which is for sale. Servers are alert, friendly and competent. (Their wi-fi, though, may need a bit of work.) I had a traditional Thanksgiving dinner, which I found quite tasty and well-done. Their advertising says they specialize in "gastropunk" cuisine, and if that is half as good as what I put away, it must be darned good, a couple cuts above typical bar fare. Drink prices are not the most reasonable, but they are not outrageous either. This place is a must more for the ambiance than the selection.

#5656 Cypress Street Pint & Plate from Atlanta, GA, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 9 | Selection 8 | Value 8 | Service 9 | Overall 8 |
The Cypress Street Pint & Plate is tucked in behind the Biltmore Hotel on West Peachtree Street, so it can be a pain in the rear to find - but it is worth seeking out. The bar area is cozy and intimate, and there are some booths and tables around as well. Beer selection is not huge, but they offer mainly locals, micros and imports. Serving people are very nice and accommodating. Food is delicious and reasonably priced. Happily, this bar is located right between two MARTA stations (Midtown and North Avenue), so you can use the stripy trains as your designated driver.

#5655 Tower Beer, Wine & Spirits from Atlanta, GA, United States
Score: 4.4 | Atmosphere 9 | Selection 9 | Value 8 | Service 10 | Overall 8 |
On of the best package stores in Atlanta. Easy to find, with ample parking and nice folks on the staff. Their beer selection is especially noteworthy. I have visited this place many times and always found it impressive. Never have I failed to find at least a few beers that I have not tried.

#5654 5 Seasons Brewing Company from Atlanta, GA, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 9 | Selection 8 | Value 9 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
A fabulous brewpub. I have never been disappointed by any of their offerings. The food is absolutely fabulous - it is as much a restaurant as a pub. 5 Seasons is perfect for having meetings or parties because they have an enclosed porch and a side room that can accommodate large groups. This brewpub is easy to find - right off Roswell Road just inside I-285 - and parking is plentiful; plus, it is on the #5 Sandy Springs MARTA route.

#5653 Summits Wayside Tavern, Cumming from Cumming, GA, United States
Score: 4.7 | Atmosphere 9 | Selection 10 | Value 9 | Service 9 | Overall 10 |
This is one of the most amazing beer bars I have ever visited. You walk in, and see behind the bar a double row of taps as long as a city bus - to say nothing of two large refrigerators stocked with bottles from all over the world. The waitstaff are friendly and helpful, and the food is superior to most bar chow. Summits Wayside in Cumming is about as close to beer lover’s heaven as you can get in the Southeast, if not the country. If you come her often, do sign up for the Passport Club and see how many different beers you can put away to earn different drinking vessels - and bragging rights.

#5652 Summits Wayside Tavern, Snellville from Snellville, GA, United States
Score: 4.4 | Atmosphere 9 | Selection 10 | Value 9 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
One of my favorite watering holes in the Atlanta area. Their beer selection is nothing short of awesome, their waitstaff is very efficient and helpful, and the food is darned good. It is easy to find, and parking is more than adequate - there is plenty up front, and more in the back. Whether there are just a few people, or whether the place is packed for a sports event like the Super Bowl, it is a fun place to be. I recommend that serious beer lovers join their passport club and drink 100 different draughts to earn a personalized mug - then continue to the second and third levels. It is a labor of love, and worth the effort just for bragging rights!

#5651 Front Page News from Atlanta, GA, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 8 | Value 7 | Service 9 | Overall 8 |
Despite the roomy interior and patio, plus the high ceiling, it has a cozy feel, mainly because it has a lived-in ambiance and appearance. Gotta love the fountain outside. The patio is well-covered so you hardly feel outside. If you like sports, there are plenty of TVs, and the music is not too loud. Beer selection is not extensive, but they have a good selection of craft brews. Their Louisiana theme means plenty of Abita. Food is rather good - it not gourmet, certainly well-prepared and appealing. This L5P institution is worth a visit - and a must if you live in the area.
