#2329 The Brew Kettle / Ringneck Brewing from Strongsville, OH, United States
Score: 4.1 | Atmosphere 8 | Selection 9 | Value 8 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
Narrow but long, the place held it's own during a busy weekend lunch period. Sat at the bar with a couple friends and enjoyed their Irish Stout and Munich Dunkel from the tap. Didn't eat but the food looked good all around. Nicely decorated and they have a great hands on brewery in the back. Before I left I wandered back to the brewing area and left with a few bombers of their beers. This place is great all around. Lots of beers on tap with a diverse mix of their own beers as well as an assortment of high end craft beers. Top notch.

#2328 The Beer Engine from Lakewood, OH, United States
Score: 4.1 | Atmosphere 8 | Selection 9 | Value 8 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
Headed up on a recent Saturday afternoon. Enjoyed their Anniversary Dortmunder along with a filling and tasty burger. Ended my visit with a Bells Porter on cask. This place is real nice, clean and comfortable. Amazing tap list featuring a handful of their Buckeye Brews as well as awesome guest taps. Prices are solid and the bartender was on her game. Can't wait to go back.

#2327 Ohio Brewing Company from Akron, OH, United States
Score: 3.7 | Atmosphere 8 | Selection 7 | Value 7 | Service 7 | Overall 8 |
Enormous establishment, serious this place is huge inside. A large bar along with ample tables. Decorated nicely with lots of brewania and a very fresh/clean look all around. Brightly lit with high ceilings and an open feel. I've only been there during the afternoon so the place was never crowded. Plenty of freshly made house beers on tap and it appears they also have a beer engine for serving cask ales. Overall the beers I've sampled so far have been average to very good, but I haven't gotten through them all yet. Service wasn't a problem, but as I said it was never busy during my visits. Prices are right in line and they offer growler fills. Great to have a quality craft brewpub close by, I plan on stopping in frequently.

#2326 The Wine and Cheese Shop at Capitol Market from Charleston, WV, United States
Score: 3.8 | Atmosphere 8 | Selection 6 | Value 9 | Service 7 | Overall 8 |
Capitol Market is a multi-vendor, open air market type establishment. Located in old train warehouse/transfer dock, the setting is unique and welcoming. The Wine and Cheese shop is located down the aisle toward the Italian Restaurant that anchors the market. Basically a corner of space with only exterior walls the beer is stacked on shelves against the brick and the wine is scattered all about. A bit tight to maneuver but no worries, just keep your elbows to your side at all times. Selection isn't mind blowing, but for this state I'd bet it's about as good as you will come across. Everything is available as singles and mixed sixers are encouraged by giving the buyer 10% off. My purpose for this visit was to look for Mountaineer Brewing and I hit the jackpot, they had 4 of MB's styles and I made up a mixed 12 pack out of all of them. Friendly sales girl, with that Charleston accent that melts my knees. Prices are great especially w/ the discount. On my way out I stopped by a book stand and picked up a novel from a regional author for my wife. The entire Capitol Market is a great place just to go and walk around.

#2325 North End Tavern and Brewery from Parkersburg, WV, United States
Score: 4 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 5 | Value 8 | Service 9 | Overall 8 |
Friendly, low key tavern located in a hard working town. I arrived toward the end of the lunch rush and there was a good sized crowd filling their bellies. I sat at the bar and got a porter served up lickity-split. Nice looking place with an open bar/dining area. There are two other rooms off the main area, one is a newer looking dining area and the other is a covered smoking area complete with warm tube heaters and an LCD Television. These two areas are all connected and both look over the brew house, which is clean and cool. Lots of wood and low lighting, couple that with the Keno and other assorted Lotto type games and this place simply screams "TAVERN". I talked it up with the ladies tending bar and both were extremely friendly and chatty. They had 4 of their beers on tap at a few bucks per pint. The Roedy's Red (on tap) is also bottled in 22 ounce bombers and can be taken with you for $3, they also fill growlers. I walked away with a handful of the Red bombers and a growler filled with their Reef's Wheat. This is my kind of establishment, above par beer at best, but the atmosphere is relaxed and the prices are awesome. Would be a terrific local hang out.

#2324 Marietta Brewing Company from Marietta, OH, United States
Score: 3.8 | Atmosphere 8 | Selection 7 | Value 8 | Service 7 | Overall 8 |
1st stop on my way down to Charleston, WV and I arrived early in the lunch cycle. Quaint place in a river front downtown setting. Narrow and long interior with rustic brick walls and extremely high ceilings. The 2 story brewery rests up front right by the street/sidewalk, you actually enter right next to it. The bar area is immediately past the brewing enclosure and they have much more sit down dining in the back. A good sized lunch crowd filtered in and out while I sat at the bar and enjoyed their True Meridian Ale before my soup & salad arrived, and then onto a Weiss Bier before my long lunch stop was over. Their home made root beer kept flowing, must be good but alas I was too occupied w/ the ales to fret over a glass of fresh root beer. Both pints were pleasant, the food was nice although portions are geared toward dieting folk and not weary travelers....good thing I had a big breakfast that morning. Great establishment, and they seem to offer an endless supply of live entertainment at night much like their constantly revolving supply of fresh beers. There were five on tap when I stopped by. Speaking of stopping by I did just that for lunch the next day on my way back up Route 77 North. This time I fancied a Bourbon Barrel Scotch Ale and a Reuben. Ended up leaving with a growler of their original McLauren's Scotch Ale to be enjoyed in the near future.

#2323 Volkerts Party Store from Canton, OH, United States
Score: 3.2 | Atmosphere 4 | Selection 7 | Value 8 | Service 7 | Overall 6 |
I’ve passed by this small shop many times as it is located on one of the major streets in Canton, but due to the location would have never guessed it had a good beer selection. I decided to stop in one afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. Looks like they are still finishing the upstairs renovation which houses a small but nice selection of craft beer. The store is small and the cashiers are wonderfully nice people who are polite and helpful. Not too many rarities, but I was able to put together a mixed sixer of beers I’ve never seen in any other of the local shops. I’ll be back soon to try some other singles and plan on checking in from time to time. Prices are great, especially on the mixed singles. Nice find to add to my regular rotation.

#2322 Rays Place from Kent, OH, United States
Score: 3.1 | Atmosphere 6 | Selection 8 | Value 6 | Service 5 | Overall 6 |
Been a while but I used to go here from time to time with some buddies in Kent. Good bar, especially considering the crazy college atmosphere. Nice selection. They seem to continuously expand upon their always impressive craft beer selections. Recommended. You are better off arriving early before the college crowd gets there, unless you like a crazy, loud atmosphere.

#2321 ACME Markets, Inc., Akron from Akron, OH, United States
Score: 3 | Atmosphere 4 | Selection 8 | Value 8 | Service 4 | Overall 6 |
Wow, the ACME stores down my way carry a great selection but this one blows the others away. I was amazed at the extensive offering by this store. Walked away with some killer brews at great prices. This should be the 1st place to stop at in the area since they rival any other selection, and the prices will be the same if not lower. Absolutely amazing for a grocery store.

#2320 Ralphs Joy of Living from Tiffin, OH, United States
Score: 3.3 | Atmosphere 7 | Selection 6 | Value 6 | Service 8 | Overall 6 |
I grew up in Tiffin, this had always been an appliance store until recently when the next generation took over the family business. My aunt mentioned buying a couple bottles of lambic from here so I had to check this place out for myself. Although it's not top shelf, the selection is great for the area. Half of the store is appliances, and the other half is high end kitchen supply along with a nice array of craft beers and wines. I visited the morning after Christmas right before I left town to return home, it was obvious their inventory had been depleted due to the holiday. I was still able to find about 10 beers that I can't find locally. Prices are about right, a few seemed marked up more than normal. The store is real nice inside and the salesman was very nice and chatty. To date this is the only store in the Tiffin area where I have been able to find such great craft beers and I am extremely excited to stop in every time I return to my home town.
