#2131 Karbach Brewing Co. from Houston, TX, United States
Score: 4 | Atmosphere 9 | Selection 8 | Value 7 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
My wife and I took this tour a few saturdays ago, we got two free passes from one of their sales guys at a meet and greet in Lake Jackson. Its located in the northern (for us)part of Houston off of Karbach street, hence the name. We got there a little early so it wasnt too crowded. With our complimentary pass (normally $8)we each got a 9 OZ tasting glass,3 tokens for their 'standard' beers, and 1 token for a specialty beer. You can purchase more tokens at their gift shop. There is also a $12 tour with 16 OZ glasses, 2 standard tokens, and 1 specialty token. We sat at a picnic bench outside and listened to a bluegrass/ jam 3 piece band, their name escapes me, but they were pretty decent. The tour was pretty informative and took around 30-40 minutes. Food trucks were there, a bit pricey but pretty decent food. It was getting crowded by the time we left, but we had a nice time, and it looked as if everyone else was as well. Overall i would recommend a visit to Karbach Brewery, friendly people and a good atmosphere.

I have been patronizing it since it has opened a few years back, it is one of my favorite spots, good selection, especially with local brewed beers. Prices are good, food is really good, in both variety, taste, especially the fish and chips. I like the eccletic mix of people, laid back atmosphere, and they have a great deck, where they occasionally have live music. They are family friendly, and the helpful staff make this a great place to have some brews.

#2129 Rocky Mountain Brewery from Colorado Springs, CO, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 9 | Selection 7 | Value 9 | Service 9 | Overall 8 |
My friend Kendal brought me here while I was visiting him this past March. This place is off the beaten path, in a industrial/ business complex. Up front they have a store for brewing supplies, and in the back is a warehouse where they have a single bar and a few tables. Behind the bar are two very large flags (U.S. and a P.O.W) that partially conceal the brewing operation. All beer sold on the premise is theirs, no outside brews, they had at least 5 year round, and 2 or 3 seasonals/ specials on tap. Year round beers are named for 'types' of women, blonde, brunette, redhead, ect. I had samples of the blonde, redhead, a raspberry kreik? and a smoked hefeweizen. I tried thier IPA, and my friend i was staying with had a keg of the brunette on tap in his basement :) Overall the beers were all pretty decent, and prices were good, but the best thing about this establishment was its atmosphere. The term 'low- key' fits like a glove, its very unassuming, even though you drink in a warehouse the friendliness of the staff and owner make it feel cozy, like you are at a friends place. They are very generous with samples, and eager to answer questions, I wasnt there nearly as long as I wanted to be, and I had a good time while there.

#2128 Trinity Brewing Company from Colorado Springs, CO, United States
Score: 4 | Atmosphere 8 | Selection 8 | Value 8 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
I went there for lunch on 3-19-09 with my family and some friends. The food was eclectic and varied, overall it was pretty good on taste, quality, and selection. The beer selection was nice, they had 6 of thier personal brews in stock, i tried three, all were pretty good. Also they had a nice selection of seasonals, and fine craft brews on stock. Prices were average for what they were serving. A nice place in a strip mall, it had the new age, earth conscious vibe, kinda reminded me of Boulder Co, (trust fund hippies) in that regard. Overall it was a pretty nice establishment and its close to the Garden of the Gods park, we got in a nice little hike in the morning, and put down several tatsty pints in the afternoon. If you are in the Springs its worth a visit.
