#1026 Frankenmuth Brewery from Frankenmuth, MI, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 6 | Value 10 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
This is one of the most beautiful brewpubs I have ever seen. It's a very touristy town so it stands to reason they would pimp the place out. Very old world feel, lots of bricks and stainless steel. Six standard brews on tap, nothing too special, very typical. Two seasonal, one was a black IPA that tasted every bit the mild stout, if there was hops in there I couldn't find them. Flavor was good but they missed on style points all the way around. The other seasonal was a Helles, sort of crossed between a saison and a grassy pilsner, interesting and worth the taste test. The food at this place is pretty good, higher end sandwhiches and appetizers with a decent smattering of well made entrees. The price was a hell of a bargain too, food, several beers and the tab came back at $20, not bad! I was only passing through but this is the kind of town you could easily spend the day in, and several decent places other than the brewery to find some beers!

#1025 Dark Horse Brewing Company from Marshall, MI, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 8 | Selection 8 | Value 10 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
Marshall Michigan is a nice little town with a beautiful downtown that leads directly to Dark Horse. (rest of the town is kinda rundown) The bar has a distinct road house feel, a bit grimy and low end but it works, would never guess they make their own beer and distribute! They have a huge mug club and the mugs hang from the ceiling and cover every square inch. The kitchen is 3 decent size pizza ovens, not flashy but effecetive for the fair they serve. Also a decent line of home made soups which was nice. The beers were standard line up when I was their, no rare stuff unfortunately but they did have a citra version of the crooked tree ipa which was nice. They had ample staff, they were very pleasant and accomadating but it was clear I was an outsider and they were more comfortable with locals. This was a place to get a local hotel and just go ham, would have been some awesome stories told with the locals and I would have loved to stay longer.

#1024 Idaho Brewing Company from Idaho Falls, ID, United States
Score: 4.4 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 10 | Value 6 | Service 10 | Overall 8 |
This place was a gem out in the middle of nowhere. The brewery itself is a converted warehouse with a brand spanking new 20 barrel system that was impecably clean. The tasting room is a brand new building, well lit, a lot of comfortable seating and a nice sized bar. You can only order beer here, no food, but no worries, they have lots of menus for surrounding resteraunts and you can order in. 10 beers on tap while I was there, I sample 6 and every single one was of exceptional quality. Not all were winners as far as flavor but every one was well made and incredibly good looking. The servers were extremely hospitable and welcoming. Had great conversation about the beers and brewery, local sites and attractions as well as every other topic of the day. If I ever get back to Idaho Falls I will be back here for sure.

#1023 Sweet Mullets Brewery & Pub from Oconomowoc, WI, United States
Score: 4.8 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 8 | Value 10 | Service 10 | Overall 10 |
Finally a brewery/pub in this area! Not only that, this is the award winning brewer formerly from the Grumpy Troll so you know the beer is not only good but award winning. The bar is really well done, great atmosphere, you can see the brewery right behind large plate glass windows behind the bar. 10 beers on tap when I was there, something for everyone really, and a couple of unique new things. Food offerings are slim but seem well priced for what they offer. All told I had 10 samples and 2 pints for 16 bucks, at those prices I could stop in everyday.

#1022 Bell's Brewery, Inc. from Galesburg, MI, United States
Score: 4.4 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 10 | Value 10 | Service 6 | Overall 8 |
Always on my list but never anywhere close to where I had to be for anything, until last week that is. They have a gift shop/store that is also a homebrew shop but other than the standard line-up you can only buy one limited edition beer at any given time, this time it was Wedding Ale so I'm looking forward to cracking that open. Around the corner is the tap room and beer garden, the grounds are huge for a downtown location. The garden is full of picnic tables and a large grassy area if you want to bring your own blanket, great on a summer day. The bar is equally massive, well decorated and lots of beer on the tap list, lots of great one offs by Bell's, had the Best Brown aged in whiskey barrels, very nice. Prices are not out of this world and you can sample in many sizes, we had a rude-ass server but all the other servers seemed nice from where I was sitting.

#1021 Three Floyds Brewing Company from Munster, IN, United States
Score: 4.4 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 10 | Value 6 | Service 10 | Overall 8 |
After getting Blue Lou's personal recommendation I had to stop in on my way to Detroit last week, holy hell this place was awesome! Tons of loud music, great art work all over the place and most of it for sale, tiny but high end menu though the food is a bit salty. The beer list was amazing, all of their beer that you know and love along with some new stuff, lots of other bottled beer from top shelf breweries aroud the world and a spot to buy bottled samples right next to the bar! I will go back everytime I'm within 50 miles, really had a good time and the service, despite what I've heard, was very good.

#1020 Titletown Brewing Company from Green Bay, WI, United States
Score: 3.7 | Atmosphere 6 | Selection 10 | Value 7 | Service 6 | Overall 8 |
Finally got to titletown, always been on the list but since I have had their beer so many other places I never prioritized this trip. I don't understand the name, no Packer theme or sports memerobelia at all, its an old train station with trains as the main theme. Didn't expect that. Good food, nice selection of beer styles, served at appropriate temps in the correct glasswear. Hopasaurus Rex was the only standout for me, otherwise the rest are good without being exceptional.

#1019 Minocqua Brewing Company from Minocqua, WI, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 8 | Value 8 | Service 8 | Overall 8 |
A really nice spot in an otherwise tourist trap town. Good atmosphere, it feels every bit a brew pub. An upstairs and downstairs with two bars provides ample space. They had 7 beers on tap, out of porter and no brewmaster special, very bad form for a holiday week. Food was great, typical sandwich and soup fair, burgers and salads, no pizza though, kinda weird. A kids menu and crayons kept my children at bay while the wife and I enjoyed all the beers. A number of light offerings for the curious tourist and a couple of decent beers for the rest of us. Too bad about the brewmasters selection, I am told they are some of the best beers they make here, I won't find out on this trip!

#1018 Fitger's Brewhouse Brewery and Grille from Duluth, MN, United States
Score: 5 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 10 | Value 10 | Service 10 | Overall 10 |
Top notch place for sure. They are in an old factory type building converted into a museum, resteraunt, shopping mall and brewery. The resteraunt and bar is very brew pub style, big bar, few tables, brewing equipment. The staff is very knowledgeable and freindly, food and beer are well done. The styles of beer are right on, they did their homework, the flavors aren't out of this world but they are clean and well done. They have a bonus tap-room on the base floor with a game room and more of a bar feel. Great location in downtown Duluth, again, a very nice building, historic and all that, great ambiance and neighborhood. I will go back for sure.

#1017 Thirsty Pagan Brewing from Superior, WI, United States
Score: 4.2 | Atmosphere 10 | Selection 8 | Value 6 | Service 10 | Overall 8 |
Awesome place, wish list location crossed off. Great little brew pub in the middle of nowhere. Good pizzas, good beers. Had a sample of 8 different beers on tap, a good selection of styles though not all winners. They did have a beer engine and all their employees could speak intelligently about the beer and the ingredients. The assistant brewer was on hand and gave me an informal tour of the brewing set up, a nice home-made stainless steel 2 barrel system with commercial fermenters and lagering capabilities. A very clean and well run shop for sure. The resteraunt is mostly a pizza joint and most folks came to eat in the bar, the tables outside of the taproom were completely vacant. The taproom is a great cozy area, very welcoming and decorated with antique bar signs from all over the superior area. Very nice place and I will be back!
