Pours clear amber with a thick and frothy eggshell head. Aroma starts with a malty core and then adds orange, pepper and herbal tones plus a snip of woody hops. Distinctive, and enticing! Flavor delivers all that the aroma promises, except that the fruit component is stronger, and has a bit of lemon; a little yeast comes out as well. Mouthfeel is firm and features a strong and lasting fizz. Get monkish!

Sampled on 6/22/2014. This Saison pours a medium dark orange gold color from a 375ml corked and caged bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruit and sweet, with a touch of orange and spice. A touch of pepper and grass as well. Medium bodied saison. The malts are fruity and bready. The hops are earthy and spicy. A touch of orange and some white pepper in the background. Nice carbonation. Light and refreshing. A nicely balanced saison, the orange sweetness/tartness is up front with the peppercorns balancing in out at the finish. Hides the alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

Darker in color, fruitier, and slighty more spicy pepper character than the original. The mandarins are a nice touch. This heavier than usual for the style beer took a while to open up, but once it did. I really liked the interplay between the citrus, bubble gummy yeast, spice and pepper.

The more I sipped on this Saison, the more I liked it. Very tight and well put together, lots of fruity~spicy~yeasty aspects all playing nice with one another allowing no single trait to stand out. Banana, gum, citrus, candy and a touch of pepper. Thick lasting beige head above a deep amber~orange body and heavy, heavy lacing man. Soft almost velvety. Medium bodied and slightly warming.

Burnt orange pour with a tall white head and delicate lacing. Nice carbonation. Sweet orange and spices in the aromas and flavors, citrus, tangerines, very light black pepper, floral honeysuckle, all intensifying as it warms up a bit. Pleasant and easy.
