This beer seems to have a different name every summer, but the the beer itself never changes. It’s a very clouded light yellow colour with a frothy white head that lasts. Lots of wheat and spices in the aroma. The flavour tends to lean towards the sweet side with the notes of orange and tangerine before finishing with a wheaty malt finish. No matter what they call it, always a refreshing summer brew.

Nice half-litre bottle with white aluminum covering the cap and a tag around the neck mentioning to roll the bottle to get the yeast going. Wow ! Pretty decent for an Amsterdam brew. Delicious cold !! Pours a cloudy yellow-beige colour with a small white creamy head that leaves good lacing. Beautiful aromas found in Belgian witbiers (yeast, wheat and orange notes). Refreshing slight creamy mouthfeel that is medium-light bodied. The taste is a little milder than the nose, with the grain mostly showing in the end. Pretty refreshing white beer that is good on a very warm day like today.

I did lay bottle on its side and rolled it around a bit, as directed. Once complete, poured into glass and yeast was still a bit visible while pouring. Pretty neat. Ended up with a hazy yellowy/orange colour, no head whatsoever. Pretty good lacing. This one had a thicker mouthfeel than most other 'weisse' I've tried before. Got a few citrus like flavours in taste. Overall, not too bad.

Bottle: Pours a clouded pale straw ale in the glass. Puffy cap reduces but laces well. Lots of sediment in bottle to be agitated before pour is done. Aromas of citrus coriander, grassiness and wet grain. Prickly mouth feel and sharpness from the hops. Nice biscuit dough from the wheat, spicy, citrusy, dry in the finish. Light sparkling and refreshing. Good effort at a Belgian wit. Perhaps a tad on the sweet side but serviceable.

Recently available on tap in this great city. I don't expect it to be available for long as it doesn't have a whole lot of redeeming qualities. The bartender called it a Canadian attempt at Hoegaarden. Given the choice, I'll take the Hoegaarden. The bartyender wasn't sure if the 'Orange' was a reference to the colour, the brewer's Dutch heritage, or if the beer actually contained orange. If it's there, I did not taste or smell it.

Originally rated as “Amsterdam Oranje Wit”. The beer poured a hazy golden yellow with a thin white head that quickly disappeared. The aroma was sweet fruit, wheat, and a generous dose of citrus. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with mild carbonation. The flavour was malty with hints of citrus.

Tried in bottle (as Amsterdam Oranje Weisse) on May 28, 2011 with no change in score.
