Tasted on tap at the Bistro 12th Annual IPA Festival on 8/8/09. This IPA poured an orange gold color from the tap. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is grassy and piney and a touch floral. A medium bodied IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are grassy and spicy. Nice balance. Not a lot of hop bitterness. Good carbonation. An Interesting hop combination, wish I had this one a little early in the day. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp and clean. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

On tap at City Beer Store. Very nice IPA with a big pine-citrus hop character. This beer poured a medium amber with a white head, pretty standard for an IPA. The aroma was quite assertive with a big hop punch. It smelled of candied grapefruit rind, flowers, freshly cut grass and pine sap. The flavor was a bit more middle of the road, but there certainly wasn’t anything wrong with it. The American IPA field is just awfully crowded and Bass Ackwards was just a bit standard for a juicy West Coast IPA. It was dangerously drinkable. My glass emptied very quickly.
