Bottle from 2011. Pour is thick and black with a brown head. Very roasty malt aroma with notes of coffee and chocolate. Syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor is much the same. Surprisingly, the high ABV is well masked. Big, bold stout that hit the spot on a cold, windy nearly winter day.

The best Imperial Stout I've had in ages. A nice dark stout, not quite black. Excellent vanilla and roasted coffee aromas, with some dark chocolate to keep it interesting. The flavor mimics the aroma with the bitter chocolate finish being delightful.

Intrigued by this one and even more so when I saw the bottle. Pours coal black with a thin dark tan head. Coffee, chocolate and mild alcohol warm the nostrils and move to the pallette translating to similar flavors. Big and bold with a light sweetness to the finish. Great way to end an evening.

Bomber from pfoxyjohn -2010 version. Big heavy black pour, tall tan head, lots of lacing throughout. Big aromas too: dark chocolates, heavily roasted malts, hint of smoke and java, nice earthy hops. Big flavor for the nicely roasted malts, rich dark chocolates, java, earthy hops on the end. Big beer, nice beer. Very tasty and handsome. Thanks John - I waited two years to try it and shared it with some very appreciative friends.

22 oz capped bottle. Poured an unfiltered opaque almost black coloured Imperial Stout with a generous one finger tan and dense foamy head that had a very long retention and tons of micro bubbles. No visible carbonation. Great lacing. The aroma is deep roasted malts and deep roasted coffee beans, dark fruits syrup. The flavour is a thick sweety syrup, dark chocolate, strong roasted coffee beans, spicy, licorice, flowery, violet. The mouthfeel is creamy, thick, syrupy, a bit oily and overall smooth. This full bodied I A has a lingering sweety and spicy finish. A powerful smell, a tasting palate, a thick and smooth mouthfeel, a superb malty / bitter balance, a very well hidden alcolohic presence, all the ingredients are contributing to do from this amazing brew a quite impressive brew.

A very good imp that hits all the style points. Brought back by a friend on an Ohio roar trip that didn't know what he had until he got back! A lucky score to be sure and certainly a beer worth trying. I didn't think the flavor could hang with the big boys, (bells, dfh, etc.) But from an aroma, visual and mouthfeel standpoint it is very close.

Pours oily black with a small, creamy brown head. Its aroma is one of the strongest I have ever smelled with pleasing notes of dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee, hints of sweet cola. Dark, very dark, roasted flavor is complemented by nuttiness, chocolate, alcohol, the faintest hint of smoke. Medium-to-full bodied with serious warming. I'm excited to have sampled this on the day it won it's 2nd GABF gold. Deserving.

Sampled from bottle, thanks to Dansting. Pours opaque balck-brown with a dark tan head which is lasting, despite the high abv. Chocolate and coffee dominate the aroma with some underlying baked bread notes. Full-bodied and very drinkable. Caramel, roasted malts, coffee and chocolate flavor. Some dark fruit (prune-ish) and spice bite too. Creamy carbonation and bitter finish. Excellent RIS. Thanks, Dan!

Often simple is the best crafted beer. That is one of them, in taste and aroma. A midnight blackness in color. A big foamy brown head. Good hang time on that head. And a really impressive display of a thick ringlet and film starts this one off on the right track. The nose and flavors are simple, roasted malt and cocoa powder. That's what I get and in a smooth, creamy body, it was just the right beer for my Sunday afternoon with left over beef stew.
