Back in 1871, the first generation of the Moortgat family was already producing beer with their exacting craftsmanship, unfailing patience and above all, lots of love.
Duvel is a 100% pure and natural beer, with no additives or preservatives. And you can taste the difference immediately. Its surprisingly high alcohol content (8.5%), huge, creamy head, delicate effervescence and silky smooth mouth feel is what distinguishes Duvel from other Belgian beers.
With its subtly bitter bite and delicate aroma, Duvel holds a unique position within the rich Belgian beer tradition. After bottling, the beer continues to ferment for a fortnight in the warm cellars of the brewery. Finally, the beer is chilled for 6 weeks in the cold cellars. This extra long maturing process is unique and contributes to the exquisite flavour and pure aroma of Duvel.
What do BeerPals have to say about Duvel?
"The aroma is spicy (cloves) and fruit (bananas, pome like fruits). Lots of carbonation with bubbles continually rising from bottom to top. The froth of the head makes this a fun drink. Helps add to the creaminess on the palate. " - RJA
"The beer was golden in color, crisp, and refreshing. This is the standard bearer for all Belgian Triples/strong ales. " - thomassova4
"Very smooth flavor, a little fruity and grassy but definitely tasty. This is an excellent beer to drink with a meal. " - richsbeer
"It is a pale straw yellow ale with the aforementioned head. The taste is delicious and refreshing with a slightly bitter finish. You must try this beer. " - porterhouse
"An excellent beer and an excellent brewery, Duvel can usually be found most everywhere so grab one and share it with someone who'd like great beer." - Stoutlover72
