Check out the above link to the new BeerPal. It needs a few more months of work, but the basics are there. You should be able to log in with your current password and email address.

The forums don't work yet. You can read some old stuff, but can't post. Beer reviewing, adding beers, viewing profiles, all work. The "beeributes" feature needs to get redone, but kind of works. Photo uploads should be working better than they do on this site. Most of the ones in there now are junk that I will delete. However, feel free to upload real ones and they'll stay for good.

The database on this one is totally different from the current BeerPal and includes mostly a copy from a couple months ago. You can play around with everything and not worry about messing things up because I'll do one final data transfer when it goes live.

Everything in the new site was completely redesigned. Pages, on average, load slightly slower than they can on the current site, but they should be very consistent regardless of traffic, and still a fraction of a second.

The private messages and chat rooms are live, but still full of bugs. The chat room messages get deleted after about an hour and aren't saved. Try it out using the blue bar at the bottom of every page.

Also, unable to add photos from Edge (running the Chrome engine), Chrome, and Firefox. In all cases, 'Upload Failed!' is displayed after the 100% mark.

Oh I’ll have to make it so you can’t attempt to upload image with an unverified account!

The default login for the framework I’m using is with email address. I plan to add a username option too.

You might want to make it more obvious that people have to verify their account then, like a message that pops up the first time they log in.

I only found the link when I clicked on the 'Directory' tab.

Part of the problem is that I copied over the old BeerPal users without marking them as verified. I need to do that. Otherwise it will automatically send an email verification as soon as a person signs up.

Some pages are completely blocked to non-members. Other pages, like the beer profiles, are open to anyone but certain features should be blocked, like reviewing and photo uploads. I’ll need to go back and check everything

It's not the email you had in 2002. It's the email you currently have at BeerPal (actually a few months ago, when I copied over the data for testing).

If you don't remember your email, it's under your Account Information of the Settings page near the bottom.
https://beerpal.com/account.asp

Email is pretty much industry standard for web login these days, and the only common thing between services when using OAuth 2.0, which is what lets you log into another site using facebook or google etc. Just be glad I haven't implemented 2FA! 2 Factor Authorization is pretty much the norm on any site that has secure information. I don't think it's necessary for beerpal at this time.

Just about every 2FA I've dealt with requires a cell phone number, and that is something I refuse to get! :)

No cell phone number yet? I'd die!

I can't ever see BeerPal needing 2FA, so don't worry.
