Thanks to phoxyjohn for hosting another terrific tasting last Thursday. This time the feature was New Glarus Beers and included the new Sasion and the R&D Sour Brown. Foamdoam attending and regaled us all with his, ah, interesting pick-up strategies! Oh yeah, there was a football game or something going on too as well as some sort of international sporting competition. I was focused on the beer, though.

Oh, to be a fly on the wall there...

The Bar(n) is the shit. [:D]

I mean that in all sincerity.

It was a good night, to elaborate:

Beers:
NG Belgian red
NG raspberry tart
NG r&d sour
NG saison
NG apple ale
NG cherry stout
NG cran-bic
NG enigma
NG chocolate abbey
NG abt
NG alt
It occurs to me that there were more but, I had been drinking so my memory is likely failing. We also sampled Surly six, several homebrews and some other odds and ends.
Beerpals in attendance:

Myself

It was great to meet Dave, quite a character and a wealth of beer knowledge! Now if only I could get his mustache on the back of my neck...

What a night! The Pfisters are awesome hosts, and the bar(n) is the coolest beer venue on the planet.

I recall only one addition to the above beer list: Samuel Smith's Imperial Stout. However, my memory is also understandably fuzzy on some of the details.

The two homebrews I sampled were the delicious Saison and the mysterious Headshot Oud Brown (the latter so-named because the CO2-propelled bung nearly poked John's eye out). I think I counted 6 taps, but with all those NG bottles floating around, I just didn't get to try them all.

Cheers to the homebrewers of the Watertown Brewing Guild, the incredibly innovative and talented brewers of NG, the generous Pfister pfamily, and the community bar(n). Life is good, but it's better with beer.

Also noteworthy: The R&D Sour Brown Ale was officially released August 9th. (I did not know this when I planned my trip, it was just a lucky coincidence.) Supplies were limited, so what did the Pfoxster do? John rounded up as many people as he could, hauled them to New Glarus, had them all acquire the "2 bottles per" limit, and then brought back th espoils. What we did not imbibe that night is now safely stored on cellar-temperature shelves.

Legends: The Motor Company. The Four Horsemen. The Bar(n).

Damn. As if I didn't miss Wisco and my buddy John enough. Sounds like a hell of a time.
