An awful beer. A very dark brown pour, almost black with a thin head. Very disappointing appearance for a draught beer. Aroma is roasted malt with hints of cocoa and coffee. Flavour is weak chocolate and is quite roasty with nothing to complement it.

Pours a deep, opaque chocolaty brown with an OK tan head. Rich aroma is of roast coffee and chocolate and is slightly sweet. Smoky flavor has coffee and chocolate tones as well as a hint of brown sugar. Milk-smooth texture is cola fizzy and leaves a tingly and slightly sweet finish.

Pours a chocolatey brown with a tan head, The smell is very sweet, the combo fo coccoa and honey the taste does not disappoint it has malty tones but this beer really has a true chocolate taste to it. It is a great winter beer and stands out from the others as it is not spicy but warm and sweet like hot chocolate.

Beer 3 of the 12 Beers of Christmas '09. This one pours a slightly water brown with minimal head and very slight lacing. Nestle Quik cocoa powder, malts, some nuts in the aromas. Taste is slightly sweet cocoa and malts with a very slight hops finish. A bit thin but still very drinkable.

came highly recommended to me by some people in my beer and wine departments, lets see... low head, dark brown .. smell is of a metal tin with coco powder and mud .. taste is kind of enjoyable but lacks any kind of character or real backing.. as simple as a beer can get...

Let me start with the aroma, at first it was a pleasant cocoa, and i thought about rating it an 8 but as it warmed it took on an earthy smell which i normally like but this was reminding me of manure you buy for gardening. which is a 2 so I gave it a 4. At first i really liked it but the more i drank the more that nasty aroma took my attention away from the average flavor. I am glad i got a single and not a sixer.

A new discovery at the Pittsburgh Bottleshop this past Thanksgiving weekend as we were celebrating not only the holiday weekend, but the upcoming Christmas season, and the news that my friend and is wife are going to have a baby! More reasons to drink! Anyway, Tommyknocker Cocoa Porter Winter Warmer Whatever had zero in the head department, but did display a nice dark brown porter like color. Very inviting. This porter tantalized the nostrils with a very heavy aroma of chocolate syrup. Look out Hershey! Much was happening with regard to the taste, as the ingredients of honey and chocolate stood out. Malt candy, toffee, and tootsie roll flavors made this brew enjoyable, especially with no real hoppage going on, which made me happy. This was a very good choco-brew.

My bottle just said Tommyknocker Cocoa Porter, not saint nick. Yep, label looks just like the picture here. Not too sure what this has to do with winter, as far as I know, the cocoa comes from the warm equator regions. Nice porter aroma, attractive chocolate or cocoa olfactory. Initial taste is chocolaty in nature, like the unsweetened cocoa baking powder your mom used to use. Perhaps there is a little too much of that flavor in here. The honey attributes really don’t add too much to it, except that it makes it sweet in an unkindly unsugar way. Carbonation is there but unnoticeable, due to the attention grabbing flavor. Not like the chocolate attributes you’d find in a good stout. Probably could not drink too many of these in a session. Generally, I found this porter to be a little less likable than most porters I’ve had. Finish is difficult at times and has a nagging unsweetened choco powder linger.

The aroma smelt like a mix between chocolate and a skunk. Not to good at all. It poured a dark chocolate color with no head at all and no carbonation. Mouthfeel was flat. The flavor was not to good it tasted like slightly carbonated hot chocolate(that was cold). I couldn't finish this beer. I got half way through it than gave up.

Pours a dark-mahogany brown/black with no head and some tan lace. Aroma of raisins, prunes, citrus, pine, nuts, bananas, and mild spice. The mouthfeel is rich and smooth. Broad flavors of dark chocolate/cocoa malt, hops, citrus, raisin, and spice. Excellent.
