The only reason i first bought this beer was for the flip top bottles which I figured would hold my home brews rather nicely. At first I wasn't too thrilled with the taste, but by my third glass it started to grow on me. Smells like a european pale lager for sure. There was more than ample head provided with lacing that clung to the glass the entire time. The taste is above average and certainly different to what I'm accustomed to. This is generally not my style of beer but for some reason I really enjoyed this beer. Too bad that I haven't been able to find it for some time now I sure would like some more of those 22 ounce flip tops. Besides the bottle has a very cool shape to it.

This beer came in a rather large, flip-top bottle. I couldn't find a liquid measure anywhere on the bottle glass or label. The release of the top gave a nice pop, but no spillage. Not much head. It was fizzy, white and short lasting. Color is a dirty gold. Aroma is a little butterscotch with hop. Ah ha! The size is printed on the label just hidden a piece of the flip cap wire. 22oz. The glass is very thick, in an interesting shape, so that it looks like more beer than it really is. I see some reviewers complained of theirs being skunked, but mine is fine. Flavor starts with an English-like bitter sweetness, then becomes a little grainy and dry from hops. Considering it comes from known for that other drink, it's not all that bad. I'm also shocked that it's ranked dead last, with 10 reviews, out of all bitters on the site. #445? How harsh. I'll change that... slightly. Not really good, but drinkable for sure.

A bit of a "flashback to the past" with this one. Please allow me to explain.

When I first started homebrewing, I needed some flip-top bottles. A dozen, to be precise (hey, it was a small batch... ;). Well, I went to the store, and found that Fischer was cheaper than Grolsch (somehow) -- and, IMHO, a bit less unpalatable, all told. And though I never quite "enjoyed" unfilling those bottles (in preparation for filling the bottles for my very first homebrew -- an unspecific "Amber Ale"), I never felt the uncontrollable need to dump this down the drain.

Flash forward to today. Picked up a bottle of this for the heck of it, and poured it into one of my Gordon Biersch 500mL glasses.

Tons of lacing, with a semi-permanent head of foam. Kudos there.

A bit "thick" in the aroma, surprisingly enough. Why? Only due to the fact that I bought this green-bottled beer from a semi-shady retailer notorious for selling old beer.

Dry and a bit uneven in the flavor dept. Comes across a bit disfunctional, IMO. Not horrible, but a bit subpar, all-told. Ditto for the rather overally-quaint and hum-drum mouthfeel.

But this does have a decent overall drinkability -- again, believe it or not. Can't say that this is all that quaffable, per se..., but, as was the case years ago, I never felt the driving need to dump this down the drain. YMMV...

My goodness! This has to be the most skunky beer I have had to date. The aroma is more or less SKUNKY! with some sweet malt but that is it. The appearance is a hazy pale yellow with a small head that is white and laces the glass. The mouthfeel is light with no complexity or any balance. The flavor is nasty and skunky as hell with not much else present except maybe some bitter. Overall, SKUNKY! I cannot stand these damn green bottles and the skunk they perpepuate! Steer clear of this stuff, don't bother, absolutely terrible skunk in this one and the aroma is very strong of it. I only drank enough to get a review, poured the rest out. Trust me when I say this, I never pour anything out, that should tell you how bad this stuff really was.

The lacing was outrageous, amazing and outstanding all rolled into one. The rest of this beer was abysmal and luckily drinkable, but other than that all i can say is that it was bitterer than most bitters...sweet....

I was pleasantly surprosed by this light refreshing lager. Little head tops the very light gold color. The aroma is sweet apple and cerries. The taste is smooth with a little malt. A sweet finish of cherry cheesecake.

looks pretty inviting in the glass pale , ever so slight haze, nice sized bubbly white head, goes fast but leaves substancial lace. Smell is slightly "skunked" but not that bad..some nice grassy ,Euro style hops. The taste is better than I expected,,its a typical European lager but they have done a good job meshing the quite substancial malts with a good hop bite..quite smooth and only small bitter aftertaste. Mouthfeel was a letdown though a wee bit too thin even for a lager..slightly watery. This is actually not a bad beer for its style I was expecting much worse after their Amber I tasted earlier in the year.

Hmmm......let me see. Nasty? Yea, that's a good description. Might as well be Grolsch. Reminded me of it in every way, and I think Grolsch isn't anything to write home about. Sampled from a pint flipper bottle. Nice, white frothy head, then went down from there. Aroma is none to pleasant, followed by a typical mouthfeel. Flavor was nasty. Overall, no way I'd recommend this beer to anyone.

Absolutely awful. Nice thick head and lacing, but after that.... well, it's just yucky. If I wanted this flavor again, I would buy a grolsch. I am very tempted to pour the rest of this down the drain! It's that bad.

Except for the nice frothy head, a very ordinary beer. Nothing special. Perhaps even sub-par. No complexities. Would not recommend.
