500 ml capped bottle. Poured an unfiltered and opaque, dark burgundy-brown coloured DB with a short one finger tan and creamy foamy head that had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Poor lacing. The aroma is powerful malty, milk chocolate, burnt caramel and dark fruits, grapes. The flavour is roasted malts, caramel, chocolate, dried fruits, nuts, brown sugar and grassy notes. The mouthfeel is thick, fulled and quite syrupy. The texture is oily. This medium to full bodied DB has a dry strong malty finish. This Fiedler Bockbier is a plesant and sweety, but not sticky, Dunkel Bock from the Erzgebirge in Saxony.

Bottled (from Bierzwerg.de). Very deep ruby red colour, small off-white head. Aroma is bready malts, some sweetish malts, raisins, mild alcohol as well as some mild toffee. Flavour is caramel malts, mild mildly smoked wood as well as some dark dry fruits and some alcohol. Mild grassy notes grow in the finish. Yet quite sweetish and strongly malty. Pleasant.

I had tried the Fiedler's Pils in the stein so figured I'd give this Bock version a go and complete the set. Dark golden beer with very little head. Rich malty aroma - protypical German lager smell. Heavy, almost syrupy mouthfeel. Flavor had a nice fruity aspect to the malt and the hops were a good balance. Reminded me of a US malt liquor made with quality ingredients.

(I had to rewrite my review of this beer after learning a little about what yeast can contribute to taste) Very interesting beer. I'm not sure what's going on with this beer. I've never tasted a lager that was this complex. It really tasted more like an ale and like it came from Belgium. It has that same spicy corianderish taste that a lot of Belgian-style ales have from the alcohol and yeast (Maudite, Clovic, Affligem Tripel). I'm not sure if something was added here or what was going on. Taste is very different. This beer stands apart. Not the prettiest beer, though. Only average head and looks like watered down apple juice.

Hard to believe this is a rare beer considering I know of at least 3 stores in town that carry this. I was a little scared away by the price but broke down and bought one today. Cool stein too. Now to the beer. Aroma is quite nice, fruit and alcohol similar to a belgian in a strange way. Appearance is basically yellow with little head. Flavor is nice with citrus fruit and a fairly harsh alcohol burn. Seems alot like an abbey dubbel to me. Although every bock Ive ever tasted seems different so I assume it will do for a catch all style for this beer. Overall its good and worth a look at if only once.
