Taps clear topaz with a thick and frothy porcelain head. Aroma offers yeasty and shy malty tones, nothing special but not off-putting either. Crisp flavor is malty and a little fruity, typical but enjoyable. Mouthfeel presents fair body and light fizz. Better than I expected.

I could say things like goes wel with food, isn't offensive, etc, etc...but really that's just a nice way of saying this beer sucks. Not as bad as some. It's crisp and dry and those things are nice. But it's an adjunct lager through and through.

Can (thanks A.N.). Yellow colour, mediumsized white head. Slightly lacing. Aroma is maize, grains, some mild notes of alcohol as well as some cooked vegetables. Flavour is maize, cooked vegetables, some alcohol as well as mild notes of cardboard and rubber.

Aroma synthetic and full of corn and light grain with sweetness. Appearance is a pale, golden color and generic with a fuzzy and soapy head on top. Mouthfeel is bland and boring with a palate that is crisp and clean. Flavor is corn malt, sweetness, and malty with an aftertaste that is boring but sweet with a finish that is wet-like but not special. Overall, just another Euro pale lager here and nothing new; good thing I got the sample free...

pours basic gold, A euro lager smell. Medium sweet, tastes of nuts & cardboard, candy. A hint of extra sugars in there but i didnt realize it was a stronger abv... soft foamy mouthfeel, weak carbonation, dull finish

Brought back from Thailand from one of my friends. Pours a pale straw yellow colour with a small white head. Aroma is slightly grainy, hint of fruit, but more or less pretty bland and watered down.

Poured a nice big head that disappeared quickly, great probably fruity aroma that was really nice in the mouth as well, ever slightly watery in the mouth, but pretty good.

Most of the Chang Beer sold outside of Thailand are the "export" version of 5%. Look for the original 6.4% version. Not too sure why Chang wants to produce two different versions. But definitely the 6.4% is the one to go for. Full flavoured malty taste, with a strong mouthfeel and body, quite comparable to an Indian styled Pale Ale but lighter. If you can find the 6.4% version, definitely go for it. If not, and you can only get the 5%, forget about it then. By the way the AIBA Gold Medal awards was for the 6.4% version not the 5%, so it explains for much of the negative reviews of this beer here.

This beer seems to need a split in the BeerPal database - my 330 ml bottle (in France), simply named "Chang Beer", was a typical standard pale lager at 5.0% ABV, and can’t possibly be "the same beer" as a 6.4% "strong lager"??!! Anyhow, my beer pours with a golden colour and a large head. "Neutral" lager flavour, not offensive, moderate sweetness. Okay with a spicy Thai meal.

Bottle. Gold colour with a slim white, soon gone, white head. Muted malty aroma. It doesn’t taste of much and hasn’t got much body...................!
