Magic and a black soul - the mahogany coloured, almost black "Eisbock" for sensuous indulgence, best served in a balloon glas. Matured in a special freezing process following a special recipe, with a soft, elegant body, but still intensive. Spicy flavours of plum, banana and clove reveal themselves along with a hint of bitter almond and marzipan. Tempting as digestif, to crepes, dark chocolate, Tiramisu and fully ripe parmesan cheese. ABV: 12 % vol. alc. Hops: Hallertauer Herkules Malt: wheat malt, barley malt Fermentation: mopen fermentation, no bottle fermentation due to the special frost-maturing process) non-filtrated, non-pasteurized IBU: 15 Carbonation: 7 g/l carbon dioxide OG: 25,5 % original gravity

Nose: Bubblegum, clove, banana. Appearance: dark brown body carmel color and head with short retention leaves the skim coat not much lace. Mouth: extremely fizzy of the tongue. Rather thin with a long finish. Flavor: starts pretty sweet with a little bit of bubble gum, candied fruits, toasted malts creep in, some raisin, there's some pepper in the finish the alcohol is warming and the finish is extremely long.

Pours a large foamy off-white head and has a murky brown appearance. Weak lacing. Has aromas of raisins, wheats and malts. Flavours are mostly dark dry type fruits (raisins, plums). Fairly strong and pronounced alcohol taste, mainly in the finish. Something like oak notes in the mix, maybe even rum, or what seems like it. Also a little bit yeasty. Quite a bit of sediments are visible. Bottle qty is quite sufficient for me in one sitting (12% abv).

Pours an extremely cloudy dark brown with a one finger head that goes down fairly quickly. very clouded but I can see a lot of carbonation. Aroma is very spicy with hins of bananna, cloves and bread dough. Taste is something right out of some trappiste monastary. Hints of heavy yeast, breads, and spices. At the end it is very sticky and chewy. Very, very good.

Dark ruby with small off-white foam head. Aroma is sweet caramel. Taste is bittersweet with the caranel sweet on top. But in both aroma and taste is a charcoal present. Short lasting aftertaste. (Velp 201301)

Thanks Jeff!!!!! Ruby brown with a small skiff floating on top what is pretty good for the 12%. Sweet yet intensely sour apple candy, oak, sock like funk. What do the malts smell like..... I can't but my finger on it. Sweet apple with a nice alcohol warming finish. Caramel, candy sugar, perfume, apples, wood, more stuff with stuff that taste like stuff. Good stuff!

Pours a hazed russet brown with a fleeting cream colored head. The aroma is of caramelized cherry caramel aroma, plums, molasses, leather, cinnamon, allspice, prunes, very complex aroma of malts. The taste is of sweet carmalized brown sugar and molasses. Cherries, plums, red Bartlet pears, caramelized plantains, hints of cinnamon and all spice, some minor bitterness on the edges. The mouthfeel is chewy but smooth feel, light side of full bodied, low but spritzy carbonation.

Did a Schneider tasting over the weekend, all of which were fantastic. Colour - dark golden brown, hazy, huge foamy tan head. Aroma - banana, spice, yeast, wheat and alcohol. Mouthfeel - medium to full bodied and creamy. Flavour - very sweet, brown sugar and spicy. Overall - excellent.

Pours syrupy from the tap. Smells of plums and licorice. Mouthfeel is velvety. Taste is of more licorice. This is kicking me arse. Finish is too much. Overwhelming to say the least!

This was quite an experience. A style to try for sure and a perfect example if you happen to find it. Nice amber/orange color with a very light tan head. Sweet and spicy nose that the flavor matches. It has a wine like quality in the flavor, mouthfeel and aftertaste and a warm finish. Very very good.

This beer is very good. It is my very first Eisbock (a style I wasn't especially going out of my way to try) and I loved it. This beer was quasi-belgian in flavor and appearance. It was brown in color and had very good head retention. The aroma was complex with fig and apricot and the lacing was ever so tacky on the glass. I don't know if a better eisbock exists, however, I will try more and expect this will be the standard bearer for the style.
