Over the years, we've found that some of our best beers have been inspired by conversations with our fans from all over the world. We launched Imagine & Gunn in Canada to give our fans a chance to join the conversation and to collaborate with us in the creation of this Limited Edition Innis & Gunn beer. Across Canada, we received thousands of entries and it was a hard task to shortlist this to only 9. Thousands of votes were cast for the shortlisted finalists, but in the end Don won by a landslide and we were delighted by his idea for a Barrel Aged Black IPA with coconut and rhubarb. Brewed with chocolate and crystal malt for depth and colour, the tropical flavours create an unforgettable taste experience, watch the video to find out more.

The beer pours a translucent dark mahogany colour with a generous tan coloured head that lasts several minutes and creates a lot of lacing. The aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and dish soap. I don’t detect any citrus, coconut, or rhubarb. So, not a typical Black IPA. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is more akin to a thin porter/stout as I’m not getting a whole ot of the rhubarb or coconut in this. This isn’t a black IPA to my mind, and not even a fruited stout/porter. Not something I would want to drink regularly. -

Pours a copper colour with a big creamy-frothy warm-beige head, great retention and thick creamy-foamy lacing. Aromas of chocolate, roasted malts, nuttiness, leafy notes and hints of fruits. The taste is a mix of the fruitiness from the rhubarb, bitterness from the IPA hops and roasted malt base. The hoppiness and fruit do seem to fight each other. Not feeling much of the coconut, as so much else going. I love black IPAs, I love fruit beers, but this is not one I would go back to.
