Mikkeller has opened several world-class craft beer bars all over the world, most recently in Asia. We wanted to apply this globetrotting take to our collaboration brew. We found inspiration in a classic Thai iced tea: the spiced tea and condensed milk classic ubiquitous in Thai restaurants. The result is a spiced amber ale, brewed with black tea, sweet orange peel, tamarind, and star anise with lactose added for a full and creamy mouthfeel.

Taps hazy golden with a thick eggshell head. Aroma presents apple, fresh malt and subtle tea notes. Flavor ups the tea and tossed in a snip of spice. Mouthfeel offers good smooth body and lively, ragged fizz. Take the Thai Tea plunge.

This is an interesting and unique colab. I love Thai ice tea, and was curious how this would work as a beer. I’d describe this sort of like a Belgian-style ale. Seems a little more fruit and a little less lactose for the resemblance. The lactose and semi-creamy texture builds up towards the end. Has a semi-hazy yellow to light orange appearance with a fruity and mildly spiced aroma. Good beer, just didn’t quite work for me the way I hoped.
