Doc Perdue was Blyth’s veterinarian in the late 1880’s who had a penchant for collecting exotic animals and a love of drink. When once cut off for being over served at the local saloon, he marched home and returned with a bobcat on a leash, threatening to let it loose if he didn’t get another drink. West Coast American Pale Ales and IPAs have inspired Doc Perdue’s Bobcat. Hops are loaded from top to bottom in this ruby red beer showing off aromatic pine, zest, fresh citrus and tropical fruit. The body is smooth and gently bitter, while the hop aromas are bright and vibrant.

Can. Colour - dark copper, slight haze, weak off-white head. Aroma - caramel malt tones, some nut tones, and a definite mix of citrusy and earthy hop notes. Mouthfeel - medium bodied, under carbonated. Flavour - nicely balanced between mild caramel sweetness and a citrus hop punch. Worth another try.

The beer pours a translucent cherry red colour with a big bubbly tan coloured cap which slowly recedes to a thin lacing. The aroma is very hop forward with citrusy grapefruit notes dominating the caramel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly creamy (Cowbell seems to like creaminess in the feel) with average carbonation. The flavour is a miss as I get a Nestea Ice Tea flavour from the beer. Citrusy hops and sweet malt are both present, but neither really dominate the flavour and all I can taste is Nestea flavours. -

Not sure what category I would put this beer in. Looks ok. Unusual aroma but good. Flavour has caramel malt sweetness and is very earthy. Nice lacing from a thin white cap. Metallic aftertaste.

Pours a pretty clean amber colour (a little hazy by the end) with a big frothy beige head, very good retention and foamy lacing. Grassy aromas with some caramel and fruity malts. Hoppy taste with a little dryness in the finish over some fruity red ale malts. Mild citrus and grass lingers. Did not like the hops in their first one - Absent Landlord, but the one here really works out. Glad they're on the right path.

473ml tallboy from LCBO. Pours a huge frothy beige head and has an amber coppery appearance. Some decent thick dirty lacing remains. Aromas of light roasted malts, hints of caramel and earthy hops. Flavours are mostly caramel malt, sweet, toasty and earthy hop notes. Actually fairly hoppy more towards the finish. Good balance between sweetness and bitterness. Pretty good retention and average carbonation. Decent mouthfeel, somewhat slick and oily. Not too bad.
