Long ago, the south-eastern shores of Lake Muskoka were known as Sawdust City. Inspired by the treatise, Gravenhurst; Or Thoughts on Good & Evil a postal official declared Sawdust City and its surrounding area be known as Gravenhurst. Honouring the origin of the naming of our hometown, we have brewed a beer that speaks to the juxtaposing ideals of good & evil. Brewed to have an easy-drinking, dry, light body with an abundance of juicy Amarillo hops, this ales dark, almost black appearance belies its hidden 8.0% ABV. Is it good or is it evil? Or is it a dangerous combination of the two? You’ll have to drink it to find out! “Now it has risen above the massive and lofty tree, and throws its pleasant shadow down upon the earth.” – William Smith, Gravenhurst: Or Thoughts on Good and Evil

On tap at Arrow and Loon. Pours a good size frothy tan head and has a dark brown appearance. Has some sticky lacing. Aromas are actually quite fruity, some notes of yeast and a bit wheaty. Flavours are somewhat citrusy, some yeast and orangey notes. Average retention. Lively carbonation. Good stuff.

Enjoyed at the Loon. This Dark Winter Saison pour a deep brown colour with a beige head, minimal retention and lacing. Grassy notes in the nose with yeast, hints of bananas and candies. Bitter tasting Saison with some darker malts in the background, wheat notes and apples lingering. Interesting darker Saison with wheat notes and lots of other fruits. Goes down smoothly for an 8% ABV.
