The Asheville area is a brewing hotspot nestled in the mountains of North Carolina. Tater Ridge was brewed by something of a craft beer super group made up of members of the Asheville Brewers Alliance. We’re fortunate to call these passionate and talented brewers our neighbors, and we hope this unique ale will be the first of many collaborations to come. We’ve made plenty of new friends in the nearly 30-strong Asheville Brewers Alliance (ABA) since we started brewing in North Carolina. Two of whom—John Stuart of Green Man Brewery and Luke Dickinson of Wicked Weed Brewing—led this collaboration recipe and work tirelessly to bring creativity and a deep-seated love of locally made craft beer to the Appalachian Mountains.

Pours a barely translucent cola brown with a creamy tan head. Rich aroma has earthy, cloves, caramel, nutty and toasted malt notes. Flavor has all of the above and tosses in some woody hops. Firm texture has some good fizz and leaves a spicy, woody finish. Pity this is a limited release - I’m glad that I caught this one!

A ruby brown colored beer with a big frothy textured light tan head rising above. There's good hang time on the head. It settles a thick ringlet and persistent cap. A very light malt in the nose. Earthy, bitter and potato peel in the tasting. Light smooth body.

12 oz bottle. Pours deep ruby brown with a medium rocky off-white head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is subdued - sweet and slightly smoky roasted malts.

The flavor is sweet sugary caramel malts with some peaty smoke and a medium bitter finish. It has an odd chemical note in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.

Overall, I don't get any sweet potato. Just an OK scottish.

Sierra Nevada beer #100!! Interesting beer. Just a touch lighter in body than I'd prefer, but nice low level malty sweetness with hints of sweet potato and earthy hops. It says a lot that this is NOT one of my faves of beer camp. Still good. Looking forward to another.

This is good.....not sure if quite resembles the typical scotch ale, but quality nonetheless. Little light on the malt, which lets the floral and tropical hop notes come out. Sort of a hybrid between a scotch and pale ale/IPA. Lighter brown appearance with a hint of orange in there. Bought in the 2014 Beer Camp Across America, but only one of each. Wish I had another sample to fully get the jist of this.
