We named this beer in honor of Myron Avery, a founder of the Appalachian Trail, or the A.T., which starts near Sierra Nevada’s North Carolina brewery and ends near Allagash’s home in Maine. Both breweries have a tremendous love of the outdoors, and Avery and the A.T. are great reminders of the wild spirit of exploration that connects us both. In 1995, Rob Tod started Allagash Brewing Company and since then, Portland, ME, has been a place of reverence in the Belgian brewing pantheon. Allagash adds their Belgian flair to variety of beer styles and are one of the few American breweries to use a traditional coolship for true spontaneous fermentations leading to seriously complex beers native to their coastal home.

Comes out of the tap hazy amber with a fairly thick golden-buff head that leaves generous lacing. Aroma is rather hoppy for a Belgian, more like an IPA, with fruity and malty underpinnings. Flavor is quite hoppy and woody, but not at all bitter; malty, fruity (pear, banana, orange), and subtle butterscotch notes round out a super brewski. Texture has about average viscosity, but tons of lively and sassy fizz. Take a walk with Myron!

A light cloudiness of a orange golden colored beer with a big sudsy textured white head rising above. There's good hang time on that head. A thick ringlet and persistent cap are left. A light yeast funkiness in the nose. The spices and earthiness dominate in the tasting. Crisp, effervescent drink.

12 oz bottle. Pours slightly hazy gold with a huge white meringue head that retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is musty fruit, some spice. bubblegum and a little piney hop.

The flavor is sweet doughy malts , coriander and a little fruit with some piney hops in the finish. The mouthfeel is full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a solid Belgian pale. I like the hop / yeast combo.

Another winner from the Beer Camp Across America, as well as a solid representation of style. A clean refreshing pale ale with that Belgian flavor and feel. Mild malt, spice, well hopped for a pale ale, with some yeast that gives it the Belgian twist. Light to medium yellow appearance, hint of orange. About what I would expect from a collaboration between these two breweries.

Another hit from the beer camp mixer. Great mix of dry rustic Belgian yeast and bright floral citrus hops. Every sip got better. Definitely one I could have often in the summer.

Sampled on 7/9/2014. This Belgian ale pours a light to medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with nice lacing and good retention. The aroma is fruity and sweet, yeasty, with a touch of pepper and coriander. A medium to light bodied Belgian Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy and piney. Nice carbonation. A nice balance between the spices and the malts, bit it is a little hoppier than expected. Very drinkable beer. Crisp and clean. Finishes a little sweet. A nice summer ale. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is crisp, clean, and a little dry. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
