The first seasonal beer ever produced by Alltech’s Lexington Brewing and Distilling Co. will soon hit the market and signal the beginning of the fall season, conjuring up images of falling leaves, pumpkin carving and football. The new Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale will hit the market in limited quantities this week on draft, with bottles following shortly. Kentucky Pumpkin Barrel Ale is a barrel-aged ale brewed with Kentucky-sourced pumpkin, richly spiced with cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. As the ale is aged in fresh bourbon barrels, the sweetness of caramel and vanilla are imparted upon the brew and complement its spicier base. At 10 percent alcohol by volume (ABV), this robust, limited release seasonal makes for a flavorful sipping beer to slowly warm up with as the weather cools. Some retailers will be offering collectible jack-o-latern snifters along with the ale.

Rating this about the same as the other bourbon barrels this I tried. About the same body and feel as the peach and IPA. This one has a clearish light orange-amber appearance. Pumpkin isn't too sweet or overwhelming. The bourbon is actually the hit here. Solid all-around beer that I wanted to try last season, but will probably pass on the next.

Clear, deep orange color, white head with very light lacing. Alcohol right to start the smell, as it warms you get the other aromas of cinnamon, nutmeg. Taste is of the pumpkin spices, bourbon is very dominant.A nice sweet caramel malt base, vanilla and some oak on the finish. Medium mouthfeel, light carbonation. Overall too much booze spoiled what could have been a really tasty beer.

Pours out burnt orange in color whit a light tan head. The aroma is very faint of spice but you can really smell the alcohol. The mouthfeel is smooth and thicker than most ales. Not much taste when it's ice cold. However it becomes a power house once it starts to warm up. I'd say at about 55-60 is just right.

Comes out of the growler a nice clear golden with a fluffy eggshell head. Aroma has a strong note of bourbon-soaked oak - and pumpkin. Aaaaah, pumpkin, fresh pumpkin. Flavor adds to a core of delicious fresh pumpkin strong notes of bourbon, oak, and - butterscotch? Whatever, it’s quite tasty. Texture is firm and smooth, quite firm, good fizz. Just a snip above "good" in all categories - but watch out, it will sneak up on you like a cat on your toes while you sleep in bed. Enjoy responsibility, and Happy Samhain!

Pours a bright orange in color. There’s a moderate sized frothy textured off-white head rising above. It settles into a thin ringlet. The nose is pumpkin and spices. The tasting is more of the same with a gentle interplay of the bourbon and alcohol. The aging mellows everything nicely. Ut is light medium with a smoothness that comes from the aging. But watch this one the alcohol can catch up real fast
