What else would you expect from us, a bunch of severely hop obsessed brewers, to celebrate such a glorious occasion? Anything other than a massively hopped IPA would be an affront to our rich history of loving excessive use of that beautiful flower, Humulus Lupulus. 1993-2013. 20 years of brewing excellence. To all who have played a part in creating such a vibrant and quality conscious culture, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts and pint glasses!! Availability: Bottled in May 2013. One and done.

Pours with a small head of white foam on a clear, copper colored body. The head settles fairly quickly and leaves some o.k. lace. An aroma of pine and grapefruit. Sweet, thick malt up front with notes of caramel and pine. Medium thick body, moderate carbonation, and a sweet finish. Definitely a malt forward DIPA, but the hop character is still nice.

Comes out of the tap a beautiful clear amber with a thick and fine-bubbled pale buff head. Strong, hoppy aroma has a fruity underpinning that is more pomme (apple and pear) than citrus. Hearty flavor is hoppy, resiny and fruity, the latter having pear, Mandarin orange and apple components. Smooth, firm texture has a decent fizz to it. Prost, Avery!

When they say "what else?" I have to scratch my head. We actually wondered why a place that already makes one of the best IIPAs on the planet would make a beer for a 20th AV that is almost certainly going to be the lesser of the two. Sometimes it sucks to be right. Maharaja pees better beer than this. I don't know how it's a 99 on RB. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it, but it's inferiority to Maharaja (and even Dugana, and hell...I think their standard 6-pack IPA) is obvious. Why do that for a 20th AV celebration? Anyway, golden pour, nice hop aroma and flavor, decent bitterness, grapefruit peel and light spice. Bittersweet finish. Nice on it's own, just not up to par. At 9% and not getting any younger, definitely a one timer.
