May is our anniversary month and we are excited to release Bois, our fifth anniversary ale this week! This beer is brewed in the English-style Old Ale tradition using our house Belgian yeast strain and then blended using the solera method, where a portion of each of our anniversary ales is saved in our barrels and blended in with the next year’s production, providing more complexity and depth of character that comes with age.

Pours a hazy chocolate brown that goes from light at the top to nearly sable at the bottom. Sour fruit dominates the tempting aroma. Flavor is fruity, sour but not mouth-puckering, yeasty with a malty underpinning. Smooth texture is firm though not too fizzy. Another good one at the HMOG!

A big, boozy, winter warmer. Tons of bourbon in the nose, but not overpowering in the flavor. A great blend of sweet cream, vanilla, bourbon, and caramel on the tongue. Finishes a little sweet with a nice warm burn.

I swear these are getting better every year. The first BBA one I had was in year two. While it was get, it was overly sweet and alcoholic. This one is sweet and boozy still, but the blending with previous reserves (now in year 5) is paying dividends as the depth of the beer keeps improving. A DELICIOUS sipper.
