This unique and limited offering takes on a twist for the 2012/2013 release. We brewed the Chicken Killer Barley Wine and aged it in Wild Turkey 101 bourbon barrels intentionally next to our “Los Innovadores” sour barrels for 10 months. Our brewing staff knew that this had the potential for crossing some of the sour flavors from the sour barrels into the Bourbon barrels and thought it would add complexity to the beer, making it a very “unique” elixir, perhaps unmatched in the craft beer world. After 10 months of aging the beer we tasted all the barrels and found that there was indeed a slight sour flavor on the front of the pallet with a more pronounced bourbon flavor on the back of the tongue. Through the bottle conditioning process the beer has now taken on a flavor that is remarkably complex, somewhat more sour than the beer directly out of the barrel, but truly something that will be different than any Bourbon Barrel Aged beer you have ever tried. Enjoy!

"A slightly cloudy reddish mahagony color with a slight tan head that settles around the glass. I can't really get anything out of the nose other than the bourbon, and some sour notes. Medium mouthfeel. The bourbon is upfront with the sourness coming in, kinda like rottew fruit. Notes of caramel and vanilla can be tasted along with some spice and a touch of funk. Alcohol warms as it makes itself down your throat. As it warms it gets a little better and drinkable but still not outstanding. The sour and burbon dont mix with the barleywine.
