Barrels that once contained world-famous Kentucky Bourbon lend a sweet hint of caramel and vanilla to dark-roasted malts and finish with the essence of a lightly roasted coffee. The barrel-aged flavors native to Kentucky compliment this complex stout brewed and aged with Haitian coffee to create the bourbon country’s own Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Stout. Coming to Kentucky and Ohio markets.

Strong aroma is very smoky, with notes of molasses, roast malt, coffee and charred wood. Pours a warm sable a whisker above black with a thick, if not persistent, fine-bubbled light tan head. Roast malt, chocolate, quality coffee, molasses, and subtle bourbon notes make their appearances as this delightful stout slides over your tongue and down the pipes. Texture is firm, smooth and fizzy, leaving a smoky finish with chocolate, coffee and bourbon hints. A must for stout fans.

Black body with ruby highlights, thin mid tan cap. Aromas are on the faint side but hints of bourbon, and oak. Flavor of dirt, cheap watery bourbon with some dark roasted malt notes, not very good at all. Mouthfeel is thin and prickly from the carbonation, with a dry bitter finish.

Very dark brown colour pour with a short lived fizzy head and leaves a thin scum for lacing. Aroma of bourbon and vanilla but not much. Thin mouthfeel for a stout. Flavour is of roasted malt, bourbon, coffee, vanilla, and dark fruit. Seems like the flavour could be kicked up a notch for 8% abv.

Pours out extremely black with just a slight tan film for a head. The aroma is of heavy bourbon smell. The mouthfeel is just a wee bit thin but okay. The taste is bourbon and malt up front and with a slight coffee aftertaste.

Pretty much as expected since I've had the amber a couple times. I knew it'd be thinner. It's not a massive imperial stoutm so I didn't expect thick, or huge. It does seem like the barrel was different, as this bourbon was more mellow and less peppery than I remember the amber being (but it's been a while). For a more widely produced and cheaper alternative, this would be a good way to scratch that barreled itch (I get that itch a lot and can't drop $10-20 each time). Nose is great, fudge, coffee and mellow barrel. Look is a little weak, more like a porter. Feel isn't huge, but is smooth and not a trace of 8%. Flavor is nice and mellow, almost matching the aroma but with less going on, especially the roasted coffee aspect. Not too shabby for $3.

A black colored beer with a small, one fingered, soapy textured, light brown head rising briefly above. No lacing on this one. The nose is muted roastiness. The tasting on the palate is more of that same light roastiness with some subtle chocolate coming through. The body is light, nearly watered.

Not a bad beer, but doesn't really stack up to the big boys. Decent coffee character but no Peruvian Morning and not even really enough to be a breakfast stout. Bourbon is very minimul and I cannot detect the oak. A bit of a metallic aftertaste but it goes away after a few swigs. All things considered its really not bad, the flavors are mild but still very complimentary. Thanks kinger!

Bottle from kinger. First of all, was expecting a Bourbon Barrel Stout; this is most definitely a Coffee Stout. Black ass pour, tight short tan head, some lacing, rather thin mouthfeel. Black coffee grounds aroma right upfront and in the first taste, like cleaning the filter out of the old coffee pots, then some molasses and deep roasted malts, and then a hint of vanilla, still waiting for the Bourbon... More black coffee grounds as it warms, a hint more vanilla with molasses more pronounced, and maybe, just maybe a whiff of Bourbon, but not much. Still a tasty critter. Thank you Cory; this was my Kentucky Derby beer.

Heavy on the coffee, light on the bourbon....Vanishing head on a cola brown body with fizzy carbonation and little lacing. Lots of coffee bean throughout and mixed nuts, heavy cream, cocoa, toast, and woody vanilla. Thin mouthfeel, but nice otherwise. Easy to drink and smoothly balanced. Very good, strong aroma and flavor profiles with nice depth to both. Unfortunately the body is way too thin and the beer is falsly advertised since there is no detetctable bourbon from the barrel. This is a coffee stout first and foremost.
