This poured amber with a small white head. Nose of malts and grassy hops. Medium body. Flavor is bland with light hops. Not much going on. Do not know how they call this an IPA.

Good strong nose, citrus (orange?) pepper and pine and some surprising sweet malts. Unusual reddish copper body (for an IPA) topped with decent short offwhite head leaving good lace. Mouth is medium and dry and slightly under-carbonated. Flavor..is there rye in malt bill? It is reminiscent of bass (admittedly not my favorite brew) fairly hoppy, interesting balance and flavor plays going on. Hits a bit astringent (making me think of rye) and then sweetens in mid flavor, not fruity but perhaps a bit of candy, ands dry and astringent with a slightly sweet aftertaste. Alcohol is part of the flavor complex. I wonder about the scores here, as an IPA (so labeled on the bottle) I would give it lower numbers than as BP's EPA listed here. I like the complexity and balance, pretty interesting brew. Rerate 2/20/2014 Downgrading , nose is perfumy, mouth is thin, malts are still candy, body is missing, hops minimal for even a EPA let alone an IPA.... what was I thinking?

Bottle. Rich copper colored brew with a dense light khaki head. The nose has some walnuts and caramel. There is also light citrus. The taste is like slightly spicy burnt bread crust. Notes of walnuts peer through the citrus and bread quality. This is nicely balanced and a little doughy. I like it as a more subtle IPA. Surprisingly good.
