Part of the Surly tap-takover lineup at Zorbaz Detroit Lakes. Orange-copper pour with very little head that quickly disappears. Boozy but with light citrus hops and caramel and bready malts. At 15% ABV, I didn't expect to enjoy this so much--would be perfect to savor next to the fireplace on a cold winter day.

Certainly a very big beer, but my overall impression is that this is too young. I think with more age the wood and alcohol will come together in a much more combined and complementing way. Not a bad beer by any means, but maybe released a bit soon, should it have been sevyn?

Brought to a recent tasting by a Minnesotan friend of ours and shared late into the evening. Pours a fantastic golden copper that is sparkly and clear. Huge white foamy cap and strands of lacing. Mildly sweet with a floral bouquet and hints of citrus. A faint woody aspect throughout. Not boozy in the slightest which surprised me considering it was recently released. Dry and sweet with a medium bodied firmness. A bottle to be shared indeed, and a decent pour goes a long way. The best news is that I received a bottle from heybeerman recently which I plan on aging for a bit. A very impressive creation due to it's delicate profile and sturdy strength.
