Brewed with baby ginger from Casselmonte Farm and wildflower honey from Bearer Farms, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout captures the terroir of central Virginia in a rich, creamy libation with a velvety mouthfeel and an intriguing evolution of flavors from milk chocolate and vanilla to honeycomb and cinnamon to a snap of ginger in the finish. Deep, dark chocolate in color with a mahogany tint and a frothy, caramel colored head, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout offers aromatics of holiday spice originating from the ginger, and balanced with a generous dose of whole Madagascar bourbon vanilla beans and Vietnamese cinnamon. Milk sugar (lactose) contributes to the full body of this stout and tames its roasty character, while oats lend a silky quality. Enjoy fresh, or cellar for a special occasion. We hope Hardywood Gingerbread Stout contributes to your merriment this season. Best with: Hardywood Gingerbread Stout is exquisite as a dessert pairing beer. An absolute wonder with crème brûlée or fresh chocolate pudding, rich desserts with cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla or chocolate really bring out the flavor of Gingerbread Stout, and vice versa. By itself, Hardywood Gingerbread Stout also makes a fine digestif while enjoying a cold night by a crackling fire.

Pours dark chocolate brown with a buff head. Aroma presents ginger, roast malt, mocha and molasses tones. Flavor is like liquid gingerbread but with roast malt and a little coffee, distinctive and very pleasing. Mouthfeel has firm body and peppy fizz. A holiday in your mouth any time of year.

BIG thanks to my neighbors for 5 of these holiday bombers! This beer was brought to my attention by my buddy Lantz and it didn't disappoint. The beer is heavy in weight, dark as night, and rich in stout backbone. The sugar, honey, ginger, and cookie flavors are right in your face and stay with you as the beer warms. The beer tastes like a Christmas cookie. I have another to go and will enjoy this over Thanksgiving. Great beer worthy of the hype.

Great execution to deliver authentic gingerbread cookie flavor into this medium bodied stout. Chewy molasses and calm spices throughout. Aroma is pleasing, although a bit shy. Dark brown body, with a thin appearance. Fizzy head and some streaks of lacing. Clean, and lighter to the palate than expected. Flavor is impressive and well maintained.

Shared bottle at KnoxBeerCrew tasting, then MY shared bottle that I traded for after the tasting. Rich brown/black pour, fairly heavy, light tan head, very nice lacing throughout. Rich but not over-spiced aromas, just like warm gingerbread man, rich sweet malts, heavy molasses, brown sugar, Christmas goodness, a bit of a warm fire in the fireplace.... I digress... Anyway, this is the most quintessential Christmas/Holiday beer that I've ever tasted. The taste is like a warm gingerbread cookie dipped into a fantastic stout. Ho Ho Ho! Merry Christmas (early) to me! And all of us that got to try this fabulous concoction. Thank you lilmiss (Aimee) for these.
