Melange #3 is a blend of three bourbon barrel aged strong ales. White Oak Sap, a wheat wine, our Anniversary Series old ale and our imperial stout, Black Tuesday, join forces in this luxurious strong ale that links some of the best characteristics of each of the contributing beers. Chocolate, dark fruits, oaky vanilla and rich toffee-like character reach through the bourbon veneer for an intensely satisfying quaff. ABV: 15.5%, Release: Limited

The barrel REALLY shines in this phenomenal blend (Black Tuesday, White Oak Sap, and the Anniversary - Cuir for this one). Hazy brown/black pour wih a quick burst of carbonation and a slight small head. Deep aromas of hazelnuts, molasses, vanilla, and cocoa. The taste is indescribingly complex. It begins massively sweet - cane sugar, brown sugar, and molasses. Notes of raisins, dates, and figs from Cuir make a presence, and are obliterated with the barrel. Hot alcohol, vanilla, and oak wreck the palate and warm my esophagus. Drinkability is very high for a 15 percent ABV. Extremely phenomenal brew.

Possibly the most I've ever paid retail, but worth it...one of my friend Dave's favorite beers, period. That alone is worth it. I really really liked it. though it's not quite in the upper stratosphere of the elite, it IS elite. Tempers a little of the sweetness of the slightly stronger Black Tuesday, and adds a little depth, though BT isn't exactly lacking there. Womderful, wonderful aroma (between a 9 & 10). Body is warming, still slightly cloying. Flavor (and aroma) a nice mix of vanilla, bourbon, roasted and sweet malts, sugary sweetness, tofee and deep fruits. One that I could sip all night for sure. I was juuust about ready to give it a 4.5, but I can't quite say I straight out like it BETTER than BT, so for now a 4.4. One more bottle that'll come out in the winter...

This was a nice treat and honestly a surprise in a couple of different ways. Poured a deep toffee brown .. medium foam .. . light burnt caramel, shiny brown bread crust, light chocolate booze, and sweet deep toffee .. . light mouth and not even a hint of the abv .. . thought this would be a bit thicker but i liked it. went amazingly well with the deer sausage i cooked up, easily in my top 3 ever food/beer pairings! .. . . if your feet are dry, you'll lose bob...

Unbelievable offering, the depth of Black Tuesday without the heaviness and thick sweetness. Awesome blending of some big styles providing for a rich brew of great depth. Firm barrel characteristic to accompany a medley of ripe dark fruits, molasses, rich chocolate, caramel, vanilla and wood. A couple glasses of this grand treat were a great surprise.
