We brewed a stout (no, not Black Tuesday, this one is only 5% abv if you can believe it), but we then decided to throw it into oak barrels...and added our special blend of souring bacterias and yeasts. The result is a perfectly tart yet awesomely dark and roasty sour stout. Not a style you see too often - and in our opinion, not a style you see often enough.

Shared 750 ml bottle, at Café Sara, Oslo. ABV was 7%. Black colour, low beige head. Lovely brett aroma, also oaky and roasty notes, brandied fruits, quite complex. Sour flavour, lemony notes, the roasty notes are quite subdued. Tart finish.

I was incredibly excited to find this around my neck of the woods. Bottle pour is dark black with a huge frothy white head. Aroma of undistinguinshable lemon - no notes of roasted malts whatsoever. Massive tartness throughout the taste along with an acidic mouthfeel. This is a crazy experiment that works.

Although it looks pretty dang black, the stout portion of this beer definitely plays a supporting role to the astringent lemony mouth-puckering tartness. Verynice :) Had a small sample, will revisit when i destroy my 750!

Pours a deep molasses .. medium head, light spots of lacing .. . sour cherry, chocolate, cherry skin, and gump .. . slick mouthfeel .. . when i hear sour stout, not appealing, but this beer is quality! .. . Good god! Did someone let a mountain lion loose?
