I'll preface this by saying I am one of Jolly Pumpkin's biggest fans. I pick up bottles whenever I see them and love their lineup - until I tried IO Saison. The bottle was dated 2-10-12 and was a bit of a gusher. The pour was very pretty, it reminded me of Cantillon Rose de Gambrinus with a pinkish hue. I had to wait for the head to dissipate and the nose is very nondescript. The taste is woeful. Very little discenable flavor, cloyingly dry, and lacking that common Jolly Pumpkin tartness. I'm hoping this was a bad bottle - but at 15 dollars and a drain pour, I don't know that I'll ever find out.

I enjoyed this, but the numbers just didn't back it up.. . Pours a hazy tan .. lots of foam .. . very dry beer .. . light spice, light funk, and light berry .. . nice stuff but maybe a bit plain .. . . Class trip to the Coca-Cola factory. I hope there's no pop quiz .

750 ml bottle, blend 3, courtesy of Cardinal Pub 6 Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.8%. Pink colour, large pinkish off-white head. Strong aroma of oxidised cider apples, red wine vinegar, farmhouse kitchen, oak and flowers. Moderately sour flavour with fruity notes (rose hips). Peppery and hoppy dry finish. Quite interesting, but not my favourite beer.

Bottled@The 2nd ES/CS Beer Tasting. (thanks XA). Hazy copper coloured with a mediumsized off-white foamy head. Aroma is farmyard, some bready, but sweet malts along with mild wood and some toffeeish notes. Flavour is wood, spices, herbs, fruityness, mild yeast as well as some quite bittery notes in the finish.

750ml bottle, blend 7/8 bottled 2/3/11. Pours a clear light pinkish red with a huge rocky pinkish white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is slightly tart fruits and some floral notes with a bit of brett.

The flavor is a bit subdued - some tart acidic fruits, with some funk and a dry finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with sharp carbonation.

Overall, an interesting beer - very pink! I wish there was more to the flavor. A bit pricey too at $17.
