This deep, dark double red was aged more than a year in Pinot and Whiskey barrels, then blended with a barrel of Bing cherries. It's a deep, rich and complex NW double red.

Pours opaque chocolate brown with a serviceable buff head. Aroma offers a sharp note of tart fruit plus a little toasted malt. Flavor features tart, tart fruit - stone fruit and pomme - and just a hint of malt. Mouthfeel delivers firm body and peppy fizz. Black blood indeed.

This one's a wild ale all the way. As with Sang Royale, the awesomeness of this brew cannot be understated. Pinot, whiskey, and sour cherry? Why yes please. Easily the winner from a pretty impressive line-up of sours.

Had this at the Portland Holiday Ale Fest a few weeks ago. I was looking forward to trying a sour beer from Cascade, and this one did not let me down. One of my favorites of 22 at the festival. Dark red color with pinkish tan head. Great sour cherry aroma and flavor. Medium body with a nice tart sourness. Very clean and easy to drink as a kriek or flemish sour, without the artificial flavor you sometimes get with others. I liked it so much that I'm going to head over to their barrel house today!

Edit 12/18/2010: I tried this one again at the Barrel House. I ordered the Sang Rouge but accidentally go the Noir. Funny thing is I STILL rated it a 4.4! While I was a little annoyed at getting a beer I already tried, it is certainly one of the best beers I could have ever duplicated!
