Our Saranac Lake Effect Lager is a rich, malty, old school German lager, made with traditional German malts and hops and fermented with a lager yeast. Look for a rich but smooth malty taste, balanced by an impressive Hallertau hopping-A nice reward for enduring our winter months.

pretty nice for the style, but not so much so that it causes me to reevaluate the standard lager. dark golden/light amber, as w/other saranac brews a little too bubbly and light in body. aroma and flavor are much the same with a decent sweet malt backbone and a bite of german hops, but it works a little better in the aroma.

Poured a medium to dark amber with a medium tan head The aroma and flavor was all malt without being overpowering The lightly hopped finish was a nice touch. This beer would work very well right up to the return of warm weather.
