Oasis is a Double ESB/IPAish beer that came about from playing around with one of Jeff’s favorite homebrew recipes. Here at Tallgrass we love malt and we love hops, and this beer has both of them in record quantities; well, at least records for our baby brewery. As our summer seasonal at 7.2% ABV and 93 IBU, Oasis is a big beer that has to be priced a bit higher than our regular line of beers. We think that once you taste the over-the-top hops and surprisingly sturdy malt backbone you will realize why it’s worth it. Definitely not a fruit-extract seasonal shandy, this beer is meant to be enjoyed on the back porch during long summer evenings. Oasis will be launched in select markets as early as April, but will hit all markets in May 2010.

Pours a deep tan .. medium foam, light spots of lacing .. . the car is dead, so i can't close the windows .. . light earthy hops, caramel and biscuit .. . pretty easy to put down, i just really would have loved a can that was a touch greener .. . There's a spoon stuck to your elbow. Do you even know that?

Really enjoyed having a few of these over the last couple of weeks. Big thanks to Dansting for bringing me a 4pack. Pours a hazy orange colour. two finger sized head which never fails. Gotta love the cans. Im having one right now, but my nose is stuffed. Sorry but aroma is noticeably boozed but balanced. Fruity esters. Thats all I can get right now. Not so much bitter flavors, but tart fruit. Biscuit malt. Citrus. Grapefruit, limes. Love it!

Tallgrass now available in oHIo and Oasis is my first pick up of their (4) pack tall boy cans. Chewy ESB heavy on the caramel coupled with a large dose of grassy hops. Solid brew, but it's kind of stuck in limbo.

I was told this was a DIPA when I picked up the 4-pack at the store so I had certain expectations when I opened the can. Although highly hopped and plenty bitter, it comes across more like a barleywine or ESB--lots of malt and caramel notes to offset the earthy hops. Not what I expected but still a good beer nonetheless.

It pours a dark copper with a thick off-white head and fairly copious lacing. An aroma of caramel malts, light hops, citrus, bread and yeast, some tart and mild spices. The mouthfeel is smooth and fairly rich. Flavors of caramel malts, hops, light grapefruit, bread and yeast, tea leaves, and spices. Good!

This one was odd for me... Imperial ESB? Intrigued. Poured an odd murky off-orange with a slight off-white head and virtually no lacing. Grassiness overwhelmed aroma and flavor. Really nothing like other ESBs I've had. Too bad I only had one... maybe next time I'm in MO I can try another.

16oz can. Pours a reddish amber with a medium creamy white head.

The aroma is a bit strange - fruity resiny hops and some weird off note.

The flavor is a bit strange as well. There's some woody caramel notes with a decent amount of hop bitterness - fruity, resiny, a little minty and almost sour. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, it's a bit strange to me. Maybe it's the mix of ESB with big American hops. The blend of caramel, wood, fruits and some almost sour notes just didn't work for me.

Courtesy of Bluesnbarbq. I drove through Kansas once, and it was the worst day of driving in my life. I was sure that there was nothing of value there. Well, now I can honestly say that KS is not a total wasteland. This is a really great beer, and it comes in a can! Deep reddish/slightly copper tint, with a light white ring of lacing on the glass. Heavily hopped aroma. The flavor is just as aggressively hopped, with some strong caramel underpinnings. There is not a lot going on in this beer; what is there is fabulous! This is more on the IPA side of the spectrum, but perhaps an imperial ESB is in order to accurately describe this beer. Many thanks Lou!

Whoa!!! This beer smells way too hoppy to be a bitter. This is more like an IPA! Pours a nice enough mahogany color, but there's way too much head (settles quickly, though). Mouthfeel is too thick for the style. Taste is of more hops. Where is that malt that you were talking about? If this were labeled as an IPA, I would have given it higher marks, but I have to lower them as the taste and aroma do not fit the style. It is a great beer. It's just not the ESB that I expected. Pick a style please! The ABV is pretty high as well. I really like this brewer. I hope that they keep trying.
