This full, smooth wheat ale is warming and delicious. It's mildly hopped to let the distinct flavor and aroma of real VT maple syrup take the lead. The maple sweetness and body that blankets this velvety amber beer showcases one of New Englands most beloved traditions. Brewed with wheat malt, pale malt and caramel malt. Hopped with Willamette. The pure maple syrup used in this beer came from two syrup makers in the Green Mountain State. The Baker Family in East Dummerston has been boiling maple sugar since the 1950s. Dave Gavett also provided syrup from his Scrag Mountain Sugar House in Waitsfield. John's recipe, along with top quality syrup from these two Vermont maple sugar operations, resulted in a crisp wheat ale that is warming and delicious. It is mildly hopped to profile the distinct aroma and flavor of real Vermont Maple Syrup.

Aroma has definite maple and wheat tones, plus fruity, malty and hoppy hints. Pours a clear, dark, fizzy copper with a fairly thick pale copper-tan head. Flavor has a wheaty core with maple and fruity notes plus hints of woody hops and caramel, and just a touch of horehound. Texture has firm body and a decent amount of fizz, leaving a tingly, syrupy, slightly hoppy finish. This is a good one, so catch it while you can, no matter what series!

If it wasn't for the maple, this beer would be weak. I really can't understand how this could be almost $3/ 12 ounces! I liked the 100 barrel series Oyster Stout, but after that the next couple were misses for me. The brew is actually half-way decent, just should be bottled in 6 or 4-packs and not labeled as premium brew. Good ABV= 6.8%. Balance is ok. On the thin side ...wheaty ...so more of a spring/summer beer. But for $6? Come on.

This is a very intesting wheat, I sampled this at the Colgate Inn in Hamilton , NY It arrive with a dark amber appearence and mild aroma and flavor. There was excellent lacing on the side of the glass.I was surprised to to detect any maple flavor or aroma. The interesting part is when I tried this with the crab cakes that I ordered you could taste the maple and smell the maple. Both were subtle and went very well with the sweetness of the crab. A very good choice.
