Black color with a beige head. Aroma is strong ass coffee and dark chocolate. Flavor is full of espresso with some milk chocolate. Oh yeah. Well balanced bad ass impy stout. Sweet finish and complex. Awesome stuff.

Growler from my sister's visit to Bruisin' Ales in Asheville. Near opaque-murky burnt brown black, tall tight tan head, massive lacing. Dead-on black coffee aroma upfront, massive coffee nose, then some underlying molasses, Deeply roasted malts, earthy hops. Taste is a cold cup of rich black coffee, heavy, near joltingly so, light molasses, big toasted malts, more earthy hops, more black coffee, then... some coffee. Best coffee beer I've had - period. Wishlist item; my big sister came through as did Pisgah - Fantastic beer.

Comes out of the tap a deep, opaque sable barely a kitten whisker above solid black with a fine-bubbled tan head. Rich, smoky aroma has strong chocolate and quality coffee tones and screams DRINK ME!!! to anybody who appreciates good stouts. Flavor is strongly like high-quality roast coffee with tones of unsweet chocolate, caramel and burnt wood plus a hint of molasses. Full-bodied texture has a strong, persistent tingle and leaves a smoky mocha finish. A must!!!

It was hard to look at this beer (a black coffee stout) and not think about the Exxon Valdez. The Pisgah Valdez is a black beer with little head that has a strong aroma of coffee and chocolate. The taste mimics the aroma but is a little on the watery side for a stout.
