In May 2007, Garrett Oliver traveled to the 400 yr-old Schneider brewery in Kelheim, Germany, to brew Schneider-Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse. This was dry-hopped with the local Hallertauer Saphir hop variety. In July, Drexler brought his yeast to Brooklyn and brewed Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse, choosing the American Amarillo and Palisade varieties for the dry-hopping. Now you can taste the result, the latest beer in our Brewmaster’s Reserve series. The beer has a full orange color and the aromatics pair the banana and clove notes from the Schneider yeast with the mango and citrus qualities of the hops. The bitterness is robust but balanced, and the beer has a clean, hoppy finish. Brooklyner-Schneider Hopfen-Weisse pairs well with Caribbean seafood preparations, crab cakes, jerk chicken, Thai cuisine, Szechuan cooking and many Mexican dishes.

Surprisingly light nose.... Floral and sour fermented pear. Some baking spice. Clouded copper / Amber body leaves a skim coat but not much lace. Creamy mouth full-bodied perhaps slightly under carbonated. Flavor is basically hefeweizen... Clove maybe some cardamom. Hops are tart perhaps slightly piney. Fairly low on the banana / bubble gum esters. Obviously wheat and in a good way. Drinkable but perhaps a little intense.

The beer pours a clouded orange colour with a lot of foam on top. Head lasts several minutes and laces well. The aroma is banana, bubble gum, wheat, spices, and light citrus. Mouthfeel is average. The flavor is sweetish with the malt up front, followed by the light citrus and spicy hop notes. A very good beer.

Tall white head with a light, cloudy orange/amber pour and good carbonation and lacing. Fruity aromas with bananas, peaches and pear, and yeasts, hops and wet straw. Taste is big on the bananas and ripe fruits upfront and a nice dose of hops and light linger.

Pours out in a cloudy dark yellow and orange colour with a rich eruptive sticky white foam. Dense aroma of cloves, yeast, perfumy floral hops, grass and spices. Medium to full-bodied with notes of yeast, tangerine, grass, flowers and dough. Yeasty finish with crisp undertones of grass and tangerine. Rather tasty but I prefer the German version though.

A cloudy amber colored beer. A big, creamy textured, off white head rises robustly above. There's decent hang time. Settles eventually into a thick soapy ringlet. Spices are of clovesand pepper. Bananas and candines are all in a nice blending in nose and tasting. Nice silkiness on the tongue. I liked it.

Interesting and fun. Pours a hazy orange blond with a lilty white head. Aroma is grassy. Mouthfeel is crisp but sweet. Flavor is sweet, hoppy, fruity, sweet. Definitely good!

A collaboration with Brooklyn's Garrett Oliver and Schneider's Hans-Peter Drexler. Bottle-conditioned ale, 8.5% ABV. Long-lasting four finger head with excellent lacing. Aroma is sweet and grassy, with citrus notes. Definite hop bite in the taste, a bitterness that grabs your attention. Mouthfeel is as smooth as silk. The alcohol, malt, and hops are well-balanced leaving a clean aftertaste. Highly recommended. I want to try the companion brew: Schneider & Brooklyner Hopfen-Weisse.

Noble hops, dry malt and fruity oranges on the nose. A nice welcoming scent. Vibrant orange color with a heavy head and good lacing. Hearty, balanced beer leaning on the sweet side but with a good hop presence. Dry wheat, honey and mild fruits. A hint of musty yeast as well as fresh bread and a faint woodiness.

8.2%...one of the best wheat beers I've ever had...right up there with the New Glarus Wheats (Cracked and Black). The banana-clove aspect was blended incredibly well with the Hallertau hops (dry hopped) in both the aroma and flavor. Everyone's favorite between the Heffe, Weizenbock and this great collaberation. Highly recomended.
