Our Summer seasonal, Trade Winds Tripel is a Belgian-style Golden Ale with a Southeast Asian twist. Instead of using candi sugar (typical for such a beer), we use rice in the mash to lighten the body and increase the gravity, and spice with Thai Basil. The result is an aromatic, digestible and complex beer made for a lazy summer evening. (ABV: 8%, IBU: 25, SRM: 5, Release: Summer, Format: 750 mL bottles)

750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 8.6%. Hazy golden colour, large white head. Pleasant sweetish and fruity (citrus and strawberries) and spicy (thai basil, coriander, cloves) aroma. The flavour has some sweetness, but not more than normal for a tripel. Fruity and fairly distinct spicy flavour. Moderate hops, a little more would not hurt, even for a tripel. A lovely beer anyway.

Sampled with KnoxBeerCrew. Nice golden color, a touch hazy, white cap with lacing, very nice carbonation. Aromas of yeasts, floral and honeysuckle, a bit of herbal garden, then some sweetness. Taste mimics the aroma - lightly sweet and herby, zesty, a touch of champagne, some tart candy. Nice brew.

I don't find brew from the Bruery a whole lot in the area. Picked this one up in Hudson,WI of all places, last weekend. Pours a deep golden colour with a fairly large head. Shit tons of carbonation kept this head lasting a while. Some initial spice on the palate. Yeast is ever present. A little pineapple sweetness and tangerine notes.

Poured a deep hazy pear juice, good foam .. . an imperial brewed by a belgian feel to it .. . some honey, yeast, and light spice .. . enjoyable but not as complex as the label would announce .. . .
i used to live in a bottle of trade winds, it was nice..

Pours a nice clear amber color with a huge fizzing white head. Just like the Russian River Damnation I drank last night. Has a citrus and spicy sweet aroma. Very tingly medium body. Starts sweet and still finishes sweet, unlike the dry finish of my previous night's beer. The sweetness is unusual for a Tripel, which is undoubtedly due to the rice they use instead of candi sugar. The persistent fluffy head gives your upper lip a very soft kiss with every sip. The Thai basil adds an interesting tweak to the usual spice of a tripel. Flavor isn't as complex as the better tripels I've had, but certainly a solid beer for what it is.

Pours out in a cloudy golden colour with a rich lively white foam. Spicy aroma of coriander, menthol, orange-peels and gentle yeast. Nearly full-bodied with quite spritzy notes of orange-peels, coriander and jasmine. Rounded medium-bitter finish with some heat from white pepper which is softened by rounded notes of of apricots and dried oranges. Quite a unique tripel but not a a favorite but i's still up there.

Aroma is strong and malty with a nice overtone of sweet fruit and hints of yeast and honey. It pours a nice clear golden yellow, typical but with a very thick, fluffy, persistent off-white head. Flavor is crisp, malty and a little fruity with a hint of yeast and a bit of an alcohol nip - not quite as complex as I expected, but still tasty. Texture is smooth, a little tingly, a teensy on the watery side but still decent. This is not the best tripel I've had, but it's worthy of at least a try.

this beer was a cool twist on a traditional style. dark golden. smells of basil and spicy yeast, and some fruit. heavier feel than expected, but nice. flavor is a hybrid of a sweet triple and, say, a Saison du Buff type herb assault. well done.

A bright orange colored beer with a large bubbly textured white head. Decent hang time on this one. Eventually settles into a thin ringlet. A nose that is spicy and yeasty. Bitter and sour in taste. Grass on the tongue. Medium, oily bodied. Certainly different and it that not offensive.

Surprised to find this on tap at Vintage Brewing. Poured a hazy gold with a thin white head. A very intriguing, spicy aroma - ginger, mint, lemon-grass (found out later Thai basil). medium-bodied, spritzy palate. Unique flavors; spicy - ginger, clove - yeasty, with light grain.
