This is a blast from the past. A gimmick to sell Canadians on a dark lager. It was more clear golden-brown than copper, and sweet as all heck. Better than what else was available, but ahead of it's time.

Ah, a copper coloured beer that I remember well. It was an average beer that was refreshing. A nice copper colour with a white head. The aroma was mainly mats, very little hops. It had your typical Canadian macro swill written all over it. I tried it a few times, but nothing memorable.

This beer was part of a huge national campaign done by Labatt in 1995. They distributed Copper X and Copper Y around the country to various watering holes, and consumers were asked to vote on their favourite. After the winner was declared, the beer lasted all of 5 months on beer store shelves. It was not a big winner. The aroma was metallic in nature and the colour was not all that dark. The taste was rather bland all the way through. A beer that if you blinked, you missed it.
