Pours clear sepia with a good buff head. Aroma has boozy, toasty malt, caramel. Flavor delivers woody, boozy, caramel and toasty tones. Texture supplies decent body and peppy fizz. Yeah Bigfoot.

A 2013 release bottle originally sent in a trade with slowrunner from earlier this year. I had been holding it long enough and couldn't keep it corked any longer. A big bold barleywine with a strong hop bitterness still present. The barreling does not dominate the beer and actually seemed a bit subtle, which provides an interesting layer to this beer. Very good beer, thanks again to slowrunner for that epic trade.

On tap at 10 East. An excellent showing of a barrel aged barleywine and I think it succeeds so well because the base beer is outstanding. So instead of aging it it barrel to make an average beer better, it makes a great beer better. Lots of wet dirt/tree bark, bourbon, spice, dark fruits and vanilla. Flavor echoes the aroma very, very closely. Bourbon, vanilla, toffee, oaked, toffe and alcohol. Very well done.

Beautiful etched 750ml cork and caged bottle pours a gloriously red hued liquid with minimal head. Strong aromas of whisky along with some minimal fruit notes and faded hops. Whiskey notes are prevalent but the hops are still present, albeit muted and not the star of this show. Coconut, toasted oak, vanilla shine with more subdued flavors of raisins and figs. This is really nice and should improve over time.

Whiskey barrel aged 750. Like classic Bigfoot, a little rough around the edges. Ample hops and bitterness still shine through the barrels, whic tastes like whiskey, not bourbon. Boozy and big, I think this will sit down well - though I like it now.

Tasted on tap at the 2006 Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. This barley wine pours a medium amber color. Small sized white foamy head. Aroma is malt, oak, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Barley Wine. Malts are caramel and sweet. The oak flavors are still a little harsh, but there are nice highlights of caramel and orange. Its still a little hot and the alcohol is very evident. Some additional aging would help smooth this out. It still has that hop bite of Bigfoot. Nice mix of bourbon, oak and sweetness. Good sipping beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter and a touch hot.
