A brew that gives you either sympathy for the devil or the courage to face him. Goes especially well with your favorite lost my girl/truck/dog/trailer song.

This was a real shocker. Tons of spice and flavor. I was shocked at the amount of sediment that was in the bottom of the bottle. I really liked this one and want to find it again.

Aroma is strong and yeasty with fruity and caramel hints. It pours a dark chocolate brown with a fairly thick and fine-bubbled tan head, looking rather like a stout or porter. Rich, mouth-filling flavor is mainly yeasty with tones of caramel, roast coffee and chocolate, as well as a hint of hop bitterness. Sublime texture is thick, oily and fizzy. I strongly recommend this one!

Batch 9999. I had no idea what kind of beer this was, even after I poured it--nearly black with a light brown head made me think stout. Some dark fruits and alcohol in the aroma. Light body and low carbonation (likely due to the 2+ years of age). Sweet taste; a little fruity but the alcohol shows through again. Overall, a little unexpected but pretty tasty beer. Would like to try a fresher one to see what difference the aging makes.

More goodness from Bells. I thought this was a stout when first sampled. Kind of thick for a dark belgian...like a more robust version of the Kalamazoo Stout. About equal in density, maybe even thicker not sure. At first the flavor is suttle, but creeps up..chocolate, coffee/toffee, licorice, mildly hopped, etc. Originally was not sure if worth the price tag, but after my 3rd or 4th sample it is solid. 7.5% range, so put two of these together and it is better than most bombers out there. I was going to sample a single first, but the dude at Knightly Spirits said this was the last 6-pack until next season, which I would have been upset if I got shut out. Going to save my last 2 for camping trip at the end of the month.

A brownish-black colored beer with a big foamy textured, light brown head. good hang time on this one. a thin ringlet is what's left behind. Fruity, dark roastiness in the nose. Some grassy notes to the profile in the tasting of a light bodied beer. Overall good.

Deep brown color that continues into the well carbonated head. The smell is quite smokey and hides hints of malt and hops. The flavor is a very good melding of smoke and malt, very tasty. A little sweet and cloying but the smoke helps make up for that.

near black pour with big head. roasted malty aroma with some fruitiness and chocolate. this beer, somehow called an abbey dubbel at RB, is a nice belgian stout. full and smooth, warming like an imperial, but far from hot. licorice comes out in the flavor as well as the chocolate/fruitiness. this was a very nice surprise courtesy of pfoxyjohn and another reason to LOVE Bells.

Pours pitch black. Licorice is not my favorite. Little bit of peat. Roasted this and that. Nice. It's a nice arrangement and I'm looking forward to it again.

draft at City Tap House for their "Bell's 31 Flavors" event. Poured a very dark brown with caramel-colored edges and a mocha two-finger head which dissapated quickly to a frothy coating. Nose is Dark fruits, Belgian yeast and sweet malt. The taste is roasted malt up front followed by dark fruits, vanilla and the brown, sugar-like sweet malt. There is also evidence of the yeast and some spice. Mouthfeel is medium, smooth - not a lot of carbonation evident, and very dry. This is a nice, comfortable brew and I liked the level of warmth and influence of the bourbon barrel. A good sipper for sure but the dryness might not argue for making it session-able for me.

It's a really high "8" overall... Purchased for two reasons: recent great experiences with Bells products and the name... love the name. Pours a very dark brown with a light brown/dark tan head. Medium on the pallette and incredible flavors malt and fruit - apricot, I'd say. Solid.
