Avery Ellie's Brown

The beer pours a clear medium brown color with red hues throughout. The head is off-white, rocky, and lasts a few minutes. Aroma is bread, toffee, yeast, light citrus, and earthy hops. Mouthfeel is average. Flavor is similar to the aroma sweet toffee up front, and citrus noted leading into a mild hoppy finish.

This is one of the darkest brown ales I've had. It has a very strong aroma of malt I also smell hops and a hint of pecan. The mouthfeel is rich but not thick and the taste is a mouth full of malt which is why I like beer.

I had this at 1906 Ale House in Roanoke, VA. This was a pretty standard brown ale. I thought it was good but not outstanding in any way. I prefer Brooklyn Brown Ale.

One of the darker browns out there. Extra malty.....a little darker would almost be a sweet or dry stout. Appearance is dark cloudy brown. Chocolate and caramel malt flavor with some decent finishing hops. Something I would get again...good for the Fall/Winter season.

Aroma is strongly malty and has an undertone of cinnamon plus fruity and yeasty hints. It pours a dark cola brown with a fairly thick, if not too persistent, light tan head. Malty flavor has tones of caramel and a hint of toffee. Texture is fairly smooth and just a little fizzy. Overall, rather decent.

Ellie was a dog....good to know. Ellie was a brown dog. Also good to know. This is an easy drinking brown ale. Caramel and chocolate tones dominate both the aroma and flavour profiles.

Had a couple cans during a slow round of disc golf the other evening. Overall very impressed with this goodness. It's very similar to a porter per style and very robust as a brown. Soft and chewy with a nice roasted malt quality. I love canned craft, and this is another good one to have available.

A deep mahogany brown colored beer with a medium frothy textured, off white head rising briefly above. Settles in short order into a thin ringlet. The nose and tasting are sweet malt and grass. Pretty simple but it works in a medium body.

A nice, clear ruby/brown color. An off white head that only had average size and average retention. Left some traces of lacing on the glass. The head was mostly creamy. Some faint orange highlights at the very bottom. The aroma was a nicely balanced mix of a sweet malt, caramel and some roasted nutty hints. Pecan and walnut. Not extremely robust, but plenty there to make a nice showing. I even picked up a faint coffee note. Smells pretty good. Touches of chocolate. The taste was not quite as complex as the smell. More straight forward with the roasted, nutty flavors with the caramel malt. Sweet. The coffee and chocolate are more subdued. Decent amount of bitterness. Not bad. Medium mouthfeel. Smooth and dry. Snappy. Covers the palate in just an ok way. This is a pretty good, straight forward Brown ale. Nothing over complicated, just easy to drink and enjoyable. Would make for a great session beer. Worth a try if you see it. This beer reminds me of Fall, but could also be enjoyed in the Winter and on into Spring.

A simple, non-obtrusive, non-offensive brown. Sweet and malty. Pours average brown , moderate head, fair lacing. Drinkable and smooth with no bitterness. Nothing to write home about.
