North American breweries could learn a lesson or two when it comes to making lagers. The variety of German lagers and how well they do them makes it laughable when I think of North American macro efforts to duplicate it. This beer pours a clear medium gold colour with a frothy snow white head. Aroma is earthy hops, yeast, and bready grains. Flavour is slightly sweet, some caramel notes for sure, with a bitter finish. Some definite yeast character as well.

This was one of the first German beers I ever tasted when I was a young lad touring Germany on my 50cc bike. and it still goes strong with it's bright color, snow white foam and sparkling.

On tap: Puts a clear pale gold lager in the glass with a 2 finger white sticky cap moderate retention, reduces to a surface cap and laces well. Aroma of fresh biscuits with a herbal-woody under tone. Stable malt spine, some biscuit malt up front, lovely herbal-woody-lemony discernment in the middle then a nice biscuit snap at the finish balanced with more earthy notes. A fine helles for sessions...I think I like this better than the Hacker helles.

Newly distributed beer, Bottle date of 02.06, Sampled August 2007
Pours a brilliantly clear, yellow gold color and is topped by a frothy, initially fat, one-finger thick, pale, off-white colored head. The aroma has a sharp, herbal grassiness to it that is immediately noticeable. Underneath this is a nice, dry, biscuit / cracker like malt character, but there is also a touch of sweet grain aromatics here as well. Hints of butterscotch and a touch of lemon zest are also noticeable at times in the aroma.

The beer is quite chilled right now, which causes it to be quite crisp, with a biting bitterness and a cracker-like malt character. At this temperature the beer is quite dry. As it warms up a bit a soft, though simple, malt sweetness becomes present as does a touch of butterscotch. The hop character opens up a bit more; it leans towards grassy notes with perhaps a hint of lemon zest. The perception of bitterness really is muted once the beer warms up as well, though it still provides a sharp backbone to the flavor profile. Somewhat light bodied, but still has a touch of structure and body to it. A decent beer, which is probably even better fresh.

Pale gold/yellow. White head that fades. Lovely grain & malt aroma. Smells fresh. Balanced flavour... grain, malt, hop. Fruity, almost green apple notes, flinty, medium bitterness. Good balance, crisp finish. An excellent beer. Refreshing, flavoursome, and moreish

Poured golden wth thin head which disappeared quickly. Grainy malt taste possibly woody tasting. Long finish surmounted by hops - very long finish. very drinkable, but could be one of many German beers

Bought at the SAQ in Hull, Quebec. Best before date is 01.07, written in the right-bottom corner of the label. Pours a light golden colour with very little carbonation. The white head is creamy-bubbly and has decent retention. Lace is left and the nose is grassy with some bread and grain. Some light sweetness is in the taste, with the mix of grass and grain again. Hints of hop in the aftertaste. Overall, quite mild and refreshing... and a better alternative to any plain lager.

Nice golden color and white foam, which lasts long. Aroma is strangley skunky :( But the taste is smooth, grainy and some hops on background. Aftertaste is nice too. So only bad thing is this aroma...
