The origins of Dogtoberfest are shrouded in mystery, but historical experts believe it has everything to do with the life and times of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. Dogtoberfest is a true Munich Marzen, brewed with five specialty malts. Our Oktoberfest is deep mahogany in color and full of complex aromas. One of the signature notes of this beer is its intriguing caramel finish which is as satisfying as it is unique.

pours amber and is fairly clear. It has an off white head with low head retention. The aromas are malty sweet with a bit of bread. There is a low fruity aroma as well. The taste starts off sweet. There is a bready aspect to it with low herbal flavors. There is a low apple note as well. The mouthfeel has a medium body with moderate carbonation.

One of the bottles I was serving up at a local festival so I was able to try a couple pours. Nothing too noteworthy, this malt dominated O-fest had a mild cardboard aftertaste and is on the sweeter end of the spectrum. Overall not bad, but it falls to the bottom of the pack from my local selection.

better than i expected from this brewery. nice interplay between the caramel malt flavors and the floral hops. a little more likvely than i expect in the style with little of the harshness that makes me shy from flying dog.

A good autumn beer. It pours a deep brown colour, with reddish edges, and a tan coloured head. Ripe fall fruits, sweet malt, and floral hops make up the aroma. Flavour is sweet malt, and ends wioth a bitter finish. Refreshing.

This Oktoberfest poured very flat with no head at all and no lacing,Due to the fact it had very little carbonation. It had a slightly metalic taste to it , with a real burnt flavor. I wouldnt recommend it and i'm glad I didnt get the 12 pack. maybe better on tap , but just ok for the price.

Pours a dark clear reddish amber with a fairly thick and persistent off-white head. Aroma is malty and has an undertone of caramel and a hint of yeast. Flavor is richly malty, a little hoppy, slightly yeasty, slightly bitter with a touch of caramel and a whisper of sweetness. Texture is fairly smooth and a little fizzy.

Now I remember why I stopped buying Flying Dog. This was given to me as a gift with a few others, this being the worst of the 4 so figured I'd try it first since I hadn't had this type of Flying Dog yet. Had a lighter brown/slight amber color. Very thin appearance and texture, not much carbonation or flavor going on. The aroma was sort of skunky, which was one of the first "tells" that I wouldn't care too much for this beer. Flavor was wheaty with caramel malts and honey. Sort of like a thinner-wheatier honey brown. Think I may be flying off the flying dog wagon right about now.

Mid amber body, not much carbonation, minute head. Aroma of caramel malts, and some hops. Flavor follows aroma with slight dry bitterness. A slightly above average marzen.

Only slightly above average for this type brew. Clear amber color with a slight head that is gone way too quickly. Minimal lacing and lacking in complexity, charater and flavor.

pours a medium copper .. no real foam .. sweet but muddled .. needs more of a backbone .. there are much better marzens .. flying dog can do better than this...
