The elusive brew is made from pilsner malt and amber malt with an original gravity of 26.5degP, yielding an 11% abv. It's hopped with Warrior and Glacier varieties. Primary fermentation takes place in open vessels using two yeast strains, one American and one English. For added complexity, the beer is conditioned on barrel staves of French Oak for four months before being dry hopped with Glacier at the rate of a half-pound per barrel. This elixir is then blended 50/50 with 90 Minute IPA. After blending, the beer will measure 80 IBU and 10% abv.

Poured a dark copper color with a medium size head that was slow to go away. Taste for very good not as bitter as most IPA I have tired. The aroma was a sweet caramel. And not that strong for a 10% beer

Pours a hazy copper color with a 2 finger off white head that takes its fucking time. Light carbonation. Aroma is lightly hopped with a good portion of cookie dough added. Lots of little bits floating around in the glass. Taste is lightly metallic with hints of dry hops, cookie dough, caramel malts, and booze galore. Taste is so odd that it can be tough to get down unless it is very cold. Interesting but not my cup of tea.

somewhat clooudy darker orange yellow with small lacing off-white foam head. Aroma is hoppy, so is taste. Nice bitter beer. Aftertaste is long lasting, nice beer. (Houston 201306)

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy reddish orange with a medium creamy white head that goes to a thin film that laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet woody caramel malts with a little acidic hops and a lot of sharp alcohol.

The flavor is sweet sugary caramel malts with a decent bitterness in the finish and a lot of sharp alcohol. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, it's overly sugary sweet and alcoholic with no real hop flavor.

Super clear burnt gold with a touch of orange, a touch of soapy head. Smells of floral citrus with an ashy oak background. Fairly full mouthfeel but not as sticky as some 10%ers. All these good things led up to a flavor not quite as popping as I was hoping for. Still good though, a dry oak with resin throughout. Pretty tame but nice and easy drinking. If it were less expensive I would probably buy it again.

Incredible. Period. A 10% IPA, that has been oaked? I love progressive, aggressive brewers, and these guys continue to be at the forefront. So delicious in aroma as well as flavour, a gorgeous pour, and a memorable drink. I'll try to refrain from drinking the other three right away.

A deep amber colored beer with a big frothy textured off white head rising above. There's good hang time on this one. A thick ringlet and thin splotches of film are left behind. This one is all about pine-citrus hops in a soft bready malt base. Very good.

Slightly hazy copper color with a nice, offwhite head. Aroma is very citrus and pin hops. Silky smooth, medium-full body, with a noticable alcohol sensation. Plenty of hops, but balanced nicely by the oak aging, giving it a nice texture with hints of vanilla on the malt. After a while the alcohol becomes a little overwhelming. I would have preferred it a couple percent less, although it's still very good.

Over at my friend's house and he busted out this beauty! I have no idea how old it was (he didn't know either) nor how he found it (probably on one of his trips to TX). Some hints of oak in the aroma and in the flavor...so delicate and wonderful. The mouthfeel on this sucker is perfect...smooth, carbonated (so it isn't watery) and begs for that next sip. The oak aging must have smoothed out the flavor profile a bit...I don't really care for DFH IPAs, but this thing is beautiful. There is some nice sweet caramel and a modicum of floral and earthy hops. Light sudsy heady head on a solid and richly colored copper body. There is nothing about this that suggests IIPA, at least as far as the flavor goes. If I didn't read the label, I would not have believed that this was a 10%-er. I don't think I would have enjoyed this fresh, judging from DFH's repertoire. A real winner...probably the best DFH beer I've ever had.
